What would happen if Jordan Chiles refused to give back the bronze metal she won fair and square? Only because some officials screwed up is there now a problem.

Jordan Chiles won her bronze medal fair and square. Her coaches had video proof  the protest was made within a minute of posting her score.  I wonder why they just didn't give out a second bronze medal. One of the deciding judges sitting on the panel is from Romania. The same country Ana Barbosu is from.

Romania doesn’t want 2 bronze medals. They want them to award only one or three so their fourth place gymnast gets one as well.

I imagine if they failed to return it, they might face sanctions from the IOC and the governing body of gymnastics.

Hell, give out three. If the judges had not penalized the other Romanian,Sabrina Voinea, for stepping out, when she clearly did not step out, she would have gotten bronze over either Chiles or Barbosu.

She should keep it and give out two more bronzes and then fire the judges for being incompetent...including some of the officials involved in this debacle at the IOC.

Gymnastics will always be rife with controversy.  Judging is not objective.  She should refuse to return it and the US contingent should fight it.

True.   I like gymnastics but not that aspect of it.   Can she be taken to some IOC court (or some international body) and forced to give it back.   Maybe the equivalent of UWW disbars her from ever competing again.   I don't know.  Seems like IOC has a lot to answer for in this.
