Joe "thinks" she's gonna be great, party is aligned behind her...why not plug in this titan right now?

So who do you think is President now?

Sounds about right.

BTW am assuming they were chosen by a democratic process to represent us correct?  Otherwise I'm sure the Democrats would be screaming that they are "threatening our democracy" and taking away fair and free elections.

Joe Biden has made protecting American democracy a central cause of his presidency. He is standing up to Donald Trump and the extremists that threaten our democracy to ensure that our elections are free and fair.

the only thing i can counter with is....

he was referring to Biden’s presidency

the answer is that Joe Biden is an egomaniac. getting him to not run again was hard enough. getting him to resign - and always be remembered as the president who couldn’t finish his term - will be much harder.

the dems could do a 25th amendment thing but they’ll want to focus on Kamala and avoid any further tension.

Big difference between being President for the next 4 years vs. the next 6 months., particularly when you're 81/82 years old Anybody that can't see that is an idiot.

well one difference is that Biden was elected. Literally no one has voted for the camel of cringe for anything in years.

Every voter who voted for Biden understood that she would take over if he were to leave office. We call this position "Vice President."

So you know for a fact that no one ever voted for a president but didn't like the VP pick??

People vote for presidents they don't like. Doesn't change the fact they voted for it.

Pretty basic concept. Shouldn't be difficult to understand. The stuff I see on this forum boggles my mind quite often.

What is so mind boggling about people voting for a president and not necessity "liking" the VP pic??  I voted for Obama the first time and didn't like Biden.

What's mind boggling is to think that that is mind boggling.

There is so much that is mind boggling that I don't know where to begin. It could be the lack of understanding that the VP is actually part of the ticket, that you don't realize that it's your own problem if you vote for somebody you don't like, or that people vote for people (including those at the top of the ticket) they don't like all the time. (lesser of 2 evils concept or other factors) and it still counts as a vote.

How many voted for Biden and his VP pick?

The ratio is 9:1 from those I've spoken with that voted "Not Trump" versus "For Biden."

I am sorry...but what??!?!  So you are saying I shouldn't have voted for Obama because I didn't like Biden at the time??  Seriously?!?!  THAT is mind boggling.

Or is it that you are so narrowly minded and can't think but in one direction that you can't fathom that other people can have multifaceted ways of thinking in terms of the impact in how they vote?  What is hilarious is you were one of the people that used the excuse that "VP's don't have any responsibilities other than to break ties", yet now you feel that they are SO important that if you don't like the VP but you like the president you still shouldn't vote for the president??  LOL...that is some whackadoodle stuff right there!!

Ditto!    A lot of people I know said what you said in that they voted for Biden because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump.  And my mom and stepdad are as far left as they get and they voted for Biden but said they could do without Harris.

Let's start over. What was your point in bringing that up in the first place?

He's saying that if Biden potentially taking over if Obama left *was a deal breaker for you*, then you shouldn't have voted for him.

Guys, this isn't kindergarten. This shouldn't be that hard. The VP is on the ticket. When you vote for president you are also voting for the VP to be second in line. When you vote for Trump, you are also voting for Vance to be second in line. There's a reason they put the VP on the ballot.

This is still voting for Joe Biden. Doesn't matter what your reason is. If you voted for Joe Biden then you voted for Joe Biden.

Obviously, everybody would prefer to have had an open primary. This isn't a normal circumstance. There is no time or infrastructure for that in this situation which is why *both parties* have rules written into their nomination process to account for these emergency situations.

If democrats do not consent to Kamala being the nominee, they have the choice not to vote for her in the general. Just like supporters of the normal primary losers are welcome not to vote for the nominee in the general. I supported Bernie in 2020 and did not vote for Biden in the general. That's democracy.

Funny you mention this isn't kindergarten, yet you are acting like you are in it.  Did I ever say "deal breaker"??  No!  People can, and have, voted for a president and didn't necessarily like the VP!!  But the mental gymnastics you two are playing to say "Well if you voted for the president you have to like the VP because you shouldn't have voted for them if you don't because the VP could be President."  If your two simple minds work that way...good for you two...enjoy your life.  But to say your mind is boggled because people have a way more involved thought process than that, says way more about you than the person you are boggled by.

You’re fundamentally misunderstanding the problem. (You rarely follow a conversation correctly on here anyway so i’m not surprised).

Nobody says you have to like the VP, but when you vote you are signing off on them being 2nd in line.

Democrats might not “like” Kamala, but they did vote for her.
