RTC coach makes sense for Scott IMO.  He had made comments about how he didn’t seem to like NIL, so now he doesn’t have to deal with that

Is he the head RTC coach or just an assistant?

Those are fighting words.

I feel like I've heard other people say that, and is the sentiment rooted in how nobody can be Penn State?

Who can even coach if the Ohio State coaches can't coach? Surely there's more than 1 coaching staff that can coach.

That's absurd. So they can recruit but not coach? Their success is due to what?

OSU fans especially. To be fair though, they are some of the worst fans...

Yes, it’s absurd. Of course they can coach. Why else would so many great recruits choose then? Hammerlock just has a personal dislike for Tom Ryan. Simple as that.

He does. But he did root for the Buckeyes a couple times last season...

I don't personally dislike Tom Ryan at all. You could just ask me for evidence they can't coach and expose me as an idiot, or maybe even learn a little something heaven forbid.

Its childish to argue with someone and not even bother figuring out what they thing.

Why do you think tOSU coaches can’t coach?

Because their wrestlers are consistently mediocre at skills which are teachable and represent pivotal moments in competitive matches or bridging the gap from winning to dominating. Examples include, front head/head under chest, mat returns, getting off bottom...these are things many programs do solidly up and down their lineups.

The also have a tendency for guys to peak really early. Myles Martin, Nathan Tomasello and Bo Jordan are examples of guys who made the gains you make from acclimating to the intensity and physicality of a college room, and then didn't grow or regressed.

They also have more weight cuts seem to turn public than most programs. (Sasso, Snyder, Moore). The following shocks me so badly I've gone back to make sure its real a few times, in Stieber's Flo film, he says when he was a freshmen that he used to skip practice because he felt like garbage and would just float off the last few pounds. That's incompetent.

Not arguing, just making an observation based on many comments you've made here and the previous forum about Ryan/Ohio state. You're pretty hard on them, so it seems like something else is going on. Ryan has coached two programs to historic heights, and Steiber (your most shocking example) to 4x champ. Can't be as bad as you let on

What other coaching staff had a wrestler win an Olympic gold medal while still enrolled in their respective university?

Cael? No.

Smith?. No

Brands? No

Ryan? Yes

Ohio State is the only program that would have allowed Snyder to focus on freestyle.  Which lead to him being the youngest Olympic champion.

Despite being upset at NCAAs, I would argue that Myles Martin was clearly a better wrestler as a senior than as a freshman or sophomore.

I also think that many elite collegiate wrestlers tend to peak near the end of their redshirt sophomore year and are at a similar level or even slightly below (due to scouting, injuries and HEW) their last two years.  I think you can find these examples at every school, heck I think soph Ed Ruth doesn't lose to freshman Gabe Dean like senior Ed Ruth did.

That said I agree with some of your points about tOSU, but imo it's a bit too far to say they can't coach.   But that is semantics, thanks for going into more detail.

The Gophers have had at least 3 Olympic medalists that were still in college: Brandon Paulson (Silver), Garrett Lowney (Bronze), Gable Steveson (Gold).

I almost did a clarification of the "can't coach" thing, but I assume anyone who wants to read aggressiveness into what I'm saying is going to do it anyway.

I should say, "Compared to programs with comparable resources and many with inferior, tOSU's athletes display a disproportionate amount of unnecessary short comings."

yeah definitely "a thing" for me, the idea probably has more momentum in my consciousness than it should.
