The NCAA D1 removes cannabinoids from its banned drug class for championships and postseason football.

“The NCAA drug testing program is intended to focus on integrity of competition, and cannabis products do not provide a competitive advantage,” Council chair and Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman said. “The council’s focus is on policies centered on student-athlete health and well-being rather than punishment for cannabis use.”

Shirley you intended to post this in Non Wrestling: Smokers thread.

In other related news the SCOTUS has ruled you don't need a brain to be President.  Stayed tuned on Thursday for more info.

In the US possession and use of Pot is still illegal. No matter what your State says it is still illegal per the US Government.

All it takes is one Federal Officer to nail you. Even if you aren't prosecuted you may spend time in holding waiting arraignment. Separated from what you may have been driving and your belongings. In some cases your file gets "misplaced" and you sit for a week in limbo before being released. Only to find your vehicle is in an impound and you have to pay to get it out - but it is a couple hundred miles away since they moved you to holding in another City or State.

Many ways to screw you - and the stuff is still illegal.

I’m from Colorado and went to college in Wyoming, so I’ve seen both ends of the marijuana spectrum, legally speaking. You sir, are fear mongering. Do you want to bring it onto USFS, BLM, or NPS administered lands in Colorado? No. Besides that, the chances of getting in trouble with the Feds here are very minimal. Now Wyoming et al. are a different story. Still, I knew many a wrestler and non-wrestler that imbibed there, even some who were caught, and did not end up in jail, prison, or holding.

Naw just joking …. Pretending to be paranoid now I’m gonna get arrested.

You can laugh. It happens and is pretty harsh for those who find out how much it costs them even when the arrest is not followed up with prosecution.

A lot like Jaywalking laws - all it takes is the wrong cop on the wrong day.

I am guessing that schools can still test and suspend athletes for positive tests for weed, it is just the NCAA tests that no longer include weed in their panel.

The rumor always was that the NCAA tests were only for PEDs and not street drugs, but again, these were just rumors.

I would be curious.  What percentage of the adult population that is gainfully employed, successful, etc…..  are pot friendly humans.  I’ve been in IT for a long time.  From engineering to data to ai……. A LOT of those folks smoke weed and are not getting arrested for it.

I've watched the industry of investment management transform in such a way where executives openly talk about taking the weekend to eat a couple gummies and sink into their coach to relax.

Yep.   No one is terrified of getting pinched for weed any more.  Almost every professional friend I know eats gummies….. and smokes.     I do live in Illinois though where it’s legal.

On top of this.   I travel for work a lot.  One recent year (1 year pre COVID) I averaged 14 airline segments (7 round trip) per month sustained.   The same everyone I know travels through TSA with said gummies and vape pens …. With virtual impunity.  None of them ever had it taken away and the comment I always get is ….. “if they find it they may make you throw it out …. That’s worst case scenario”.

Reefer madness is over in the USA and federal officers are not patrolling the national forests looking for pot smokers. Weed farms yes, campers getting high no. If it’s illegal in your state or if you are underage you can definitely get popped by local law enforcement though. That’s a real risk.

Gainfully employed in athletics and have worked in the field in a pretty high level, huge responsibilities at work as well as helping to develop HS wrestling programs in my area.   Use marijuana almost nightly, after 12 hours or so a day of being pretty productive in different venues. Along with during some leisure activities at whatever point they might come.  Have law enforcement friends who are well aware as well as my superiors at work, which is a random drug testing position.

Not trying to pat myself on my back or promote my resume, but say all that to say all the BS is the epitome of fear mongering…

Within 100 miles of the Border you have the Border Patrol with full power to stop and detain and arrest anyone. What I posted can happen does with some of these guys. Just because it does not happen to you doesn't mean it is not happening.

It is like driving through Utah and getting stopped and the cop thinks the money you have "must have come from drug sales" so he confiscates everything. Months to years to maybe get some or all back. Meanwhile, you are out a vehicle and all that was in it, dollars to your ID and credit cards.

This stuff happens.

I just flushed all my gummies.   I’ll never eat one again.
