Looking at Dual Meet Teams in Rankings...Illinois was 2-6 in B1G/5-9  Overall last season ...thats a debacle for Illinois...Such a great HS Wrestling State...No fan base at Illinois...Program needs a splash

They shirted Webster, Byrd and both braunagles and will ad scoles to their lineup who was a top 40 recruit for his class.

Nebraska and Michigan I think should both definitely be ahead of rutgers and Id argue Illinois as well.

Illinois a Better Dual meet team then Rutgers next year? Thats not happening...You realize Illinois was horrible last year and I know they will be better but they wont be better then Rutgers next season

Rutgers projected line up with their best finish so far in time at Rutgers

125- Peterson..was in top 10 during season ..NCAA Qualifier

133- Shawver...B1G Champ...All-American

141- Olliveri...NCAA Qualifier

149- Clark,,,NCAA Qualifier

157- True frosh PA Champ Harer

165- White?...NCAA Qualifier

174- Turley...All-American

184- Soldano...All-American

197- Poznaski...All-American

285- Yaraslauv...All-American

Thats a solid projected Dual meet team.

Soldano AA is ambitious

I hate to say someone got lucky to AA but Turley did it During the condensed season and has really not looked like an AA type of guy since

Poz Could AA I am not sure I would bet on it though

They will definitely be a better Dual team than Tournament team in my opinion

Illinois - Rutgers would be close. A lot of tight matches.

125 - not sure if the transfer from ISU is coming now?

133 - Lucas Byrd

141- Danny Pucino

149- Kannon Webster

157- Braedon Scoles

165- Chris Moore

174- Danny Braunagel

184- Edmond Ruth

197- Zach Braunagel

285- Luke Luffman

i would favor Illinois at 149, 165, 184. Rutgers at 125 and probably 285. The rest are toss ups.

Bat signal for @ILLINIWrestlingBlog

As an impartial and respected wrestling journalist, I have to say that ILLINOIS is the team to beat next year. Due to a disquieting number of injuries (Lucas Byrd, Luke Luffman, Joe Roberts, Isiah Pettigrew, etc.), Olympic redshirts (both Brawlnagels) and Freshman redshirts (Kannon Webster, Braeden Scoles), the school had a poor dual year.

Even so, some on this board would probably say, unfairly, that I was obnoxious about their potential.

Well, just you wait. Get those folks back, except Joe Roberts, who unfortunately has medically retired due to concussions, and fill that spot with Webster or Scoles, and SHAM-WOW! Still need to shore up 125, but the rest of the lineup will be angry dog tough.

As for the original post, I see the Big Ten as tougher, top to bottom, than at any time I can remember in the last 30 years. The B1G has 13 quality teams, and I expect evil Northwestern will be back in the mix eventually. Michigan State is teetering on the edge because of the transfer portal. I think the Spartans might end up with a crap dual record, but that's just because the conference is so tough. So, I'm going to say 13, worst case 12, very quality teams.

Can't ever remember that being the case.
