Anyone have any insight as to what the UB staff will look like? Is Vinson keeping the current assistants (Derek Spann, Alan Clothier, and Ben Freeman)? Or is he comprising his own staff?

Outside of Cody Caldwell being retained by Damion Hahn at SDSU I can’t remember the last assistant retained from a outside coach coming in.

I believe Matt Dernlan stayed on at penn state for 2 years when Cael came in

Koll kept Leeth and maybe some other coaches when he got to Stanford and he kept Tony Ramos at UNC

Yea the previous staff is still listed on the website. And I'd assume if plans to replace them he'd be working on that sooner rather than later for a recruiting standpoint.

Most coaches want to keep atleast one former staffer just for the sake of understanding the athletes, the environment, etc.

With the situation at North Dakota State deteriorating quite rapidly, it remains to be seen if Hayden Hidlay will be there for too much longer.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him get picked up by Buffalo or another team now that has an opening.  He worked with Gaven Sax through his break-out season in what would have otherwise been a major bust of a season for the Bison.  With Sax and others in the portal, Mooberry already gone, it make you feel like there could be no bottom here.

I honestly have no clue.  In November of 2022, they defeated Nebraska in a regular season dual.  Once Kish left for Oklahoma, they have had double digit transfer portal departures the last two years.  And with what's left of the roster, they aren't projected to have a single national qualifier

I expected to see some kids follow Kish like DJ Parker did, but I didn't realize it was a mass exodus. I don't know much about Obe, but it did look like they had a rough season.

I think Coach Blanc still should get a couple of seasons to reboot.  As for where his assistants fit in to the future, that's another story.

Except for Pentz who didn’t even wrestle, have they had any starters transfer to any school other than Oklahoma or Iowa?  Seems like the reason for the departures was Kish leaving.  If their younger guys start transferring too then maybe I’d be worried.  They started 6 freshmen and 1 sophomore last season, seems like they have a lot of potential to improve.

If you're asking me about NDSU, none in my opinion.  

My point is that if in theory he's on the hot seat as another poster insinuated then he should have time to reboot the program and be able to choose his staff with autonomy....if it is all "on him".
