John Stutzman named Associate HC at Davidson, and Alan Clothier as assistant coach.

Rumors seem to be Kemerer likely to be head coach at Bloomsburg

So, how exactly does Stutzman to Davidson and back to Bloomsburg in the same week happen in a world where adults are running athletic departments?

I don’t see any reason to doubt that the Davidson job was a done deal, but Stutzman just got another offer he liked better afterwards.

I’m a little surprised Bloomsburg announced it so quickly though.  It doesn’t seem like it had been in the works if the rumor was someone else was getting the job a couple days prior.

Bloomsburg "fired" their former coach on or around May 8th.

A deal to bring back Stutzman, or any coach, couldn't be done before today?

Stutzman didn't know he would be offered the Bloomsburg job when he took the Davidson gig this week? (Not absolving Stutzman of blame here.)

Bloomsburg needed Davidson to hire Stutzman this week to know it really wanted him back like some sort of 1980s romcom?

Again, where are the adults in this process?

Bloom was aggressively going after Michael Kemmerer and they were waiting awhile on a decision so when he declined this week they quickly pivioted to choice number Stutzman ,who obviously is going to take the head coaching job at school he’s had success over being an asst. at one of the worst schools in the country

It will be interesting to see how this plays out for round 2.

"Happy" to lay the blame at Bloomsburg's feet if what you say is true. At some point, the adults at Bloomsburg had to figure out that Kemmerer wouldn't accept the job with the terms they offered. No reason this had to drag out so long. No one's looking good with today's announcement.

Isn’t that basically the same decision Kemerer had other than having a history there (plus Kem is just an assistant and Stutzman was going to be AHC)?  He’s at Brown right?  Great school of course but not exactly known for wrestling.  If Bloom couldn’t offer enough to get him to leave there, not sure how “aggressively” they were really going after him.

And wasn’t Bloom in financial trouble or something?  It’s also in the middle of nowhere, compared to Davidson which is a very good school in an affluent suburb of Charlotte.

Middle of wrestling country you mean and the schools only D1 sport , 2 hrs or less from NJ , an hr or so from Lehigh valley , and I’ve seen it implied a rich donor came in fixed the $$ issues maybe @Husker_Du has more clarity

.it also has a very high acceptance rate compared to Davidson which has low acceptance numbers .

In 2013 Bloom went 17-3 under Stutz and finished the year ranked #11 in the country with wins over #12 Pitt #15 Edinboro #20 Maryland and Arizona State so he knows what can be accomplished there opposed to Davidson who have never been good.

Why do you think Kemerer turned it down then?

sounded like it was an offer to Kemerer, Murin, and Philippi as a joint package and that somewhere between the three of them, there was a "snag" that prevented it from going through.  no further details provided to me

That would have been an awesome coaching trio for the Huskies. I'm sure all of them at Brown has been great for recruiting and in-room action. Thinking that group would add a shot of youth and star power that Bloomsburg has needed as of lately.
