The Mason Gibson commitment makes me wonder about the 2025/2026 Rutgers lineup and if it might look like this:

125: Peterson

133: Shawver

141: Gibson

149: Oliveri

157: Nini

165: Harer

174: Soldano

184: Cartagena-Walsh

197: Poznanski

285: Transfer Portal

Gibson may be 5'2 with shoes on I think he would be drastically undersized at 141 I'm not sure he beats Oliveri

you could be right - Gibson could be the odd man out

I know he was supposed to go to the LCQ at 57kg but did not end up going I don't know if he could not make the weight. I feel like he could potentially beat out Peterson, Im not entirely sure how big of an upgrade that is to make it worth sitting a guy with a lot of experience who could potentially AA but I think thats a clearer path for him than 141.

Well in fairness to you, I posted about a different year than the subject of this thread, so its really on me.

Minnesota

125-Morvari Fr

133-Flynn Jr

141-Vombaur Jr

149-Roberts Jr

157-Astey Jr

165-Brenner Jr

174-Whiting So

184-McEnelly Fr

197-Nelson Fr

Hwt-Tabor Jr

Redshirt Wells to move to 141, move Vombaur to 149 following year and Roberts to the portal. I fully expect Salazar to Northern Colorado/ASU next season. Following season Brenner beat out by Millard for 165 and Tabor by Hopke for HWT.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I don't see Gibson as a 141 and I don't see Nini as a 157.

Nini is probably never going to be 157 and might never break the lineup , Harer could be a career 157 and Gibson is never going to be a 141 , if he’s beating Peterson or Shawver then one of them would likely just transfer as grad students .None of the 3 are ever going to be 141s unfortunately

I could see Oliveri staying 141 and possibly a guy like Fongaro eventually breaking in at 149 or vice versa

Are we talking about Alex nini or the other one? I think Alex nini could be very good not sure if hes a 157 probably a 141/149 but I think he has upside.

He doesn’t have explosive offense , he had 3/4 loses his senior year at 144 and got completely controlled by a freshman in the state finals , all of those things don’t usually translate to big 10 success, Rutgers has a lot of guys in the room at 141-157 that I don’t think Nini ever beats most of them , and the original poster had Nini starting at 157 in 2025 and if that’s the case it’s a disaster scenario for Rutgers

I was talking about Alex Nini (the younger one) although I haven't kept track of his progress the last year or so

Revised Penn State:

125: Lilledahl
133: Nagao
141: BB
149: SVN or Kasak
157: Mesenbrink or SVN or Kasak or Sealey
165: Mesenbrink or Haines
174: Facundo
184: Carter or Barr
197: Carter or Barr
285: Kerk

That’s a monster team.

I think Sealey takes a shirt. He’s getting more technically sound but needs to tighten it up a lot.

Curious why you think Larkin is going 157? He has been wrestling 65kg in freestyle which is 143
