Obviously, Starocci v Lewis has the most star power, but I’m guessing it’s going to be mainly a defensive battle. A few I think will be great matches are Hamiti v Carr, Haines v Robb, Andonian v Scott, Arrington v Gomez, Mendez v Hardy, and Noto v Ramos.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Davis and figs at 125 will be a good one. Mendez is on a roll, I don't think hardy hangs with him.

Mendez is performing just as he predicted during a recent interview before the event. No one is stopping him from appearing on top of the podium Saturday night.

Hardy is a tough out for anyone - the guy is really unorthodox and a great scrambler.  Smart money says Mendez, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Hardy take this one.

Nittany - how do you like Beaus chances of going all the way at this point. I do not see that but what are your thoughts?

Depends on which Beau shows up - the one that opened up and beat Woods soundly in the Iowa dual, or the more tentative (and typical) one that lost at the Big 10 tournament.  I think he makes the finals, but I don't think he'll win it all. The guy just needs to open up, but mostly refuses to.

As important as Starocci/Lewis is, I think it has high potential to be boring. The hot quarterfinal is Carr/Hamiti

It will definitely be close. Carters bulky knee brace is obviously a hindrance but the question is does he remove it in order to defeat two former NCAA champs this afternoon? My prediction: 5-3 Starocci over Meiki with or without the brace.

Close 6-5 (which would be great), or 2-1 decided by stalling point. Both looked very non aggressive in the Rnd of 16 win last night.

Can Eric Armbar Barnett keep it rolling? His single leg defense is very.... unique. I think he beats Smith and heads to the semi finals as a 10 seed.

How are some of you feeling about Gomez after yesterday? I watched both matches earlier this morning and he looks unstoppable.

Exactly why I have this one on the list. I definitely agree with others that Mendez is the favorite but Hardy has the potential to make it an exciting match.

I like Hardy as a wrestler and as a person after listening to a few of his interviews. It would be nice for him to win but this weight belongs to Mendez and OSU.  I’d also like to see Tom Ryan honored with another national champ.
