Brian Swaw and I did an interview with Isaiah Martinez yesterday, and the talk eventually made its way to his tattoos. I personally think his arm tat is mankind's greatest achievement. Coach Poeta favors his ankle tattoo. So far, we know that Coaches Poeta and Imar have ILLINI Wrestling tattoos, and so do AAs Jordan Blanton, Jimmy Kennedy and John Wise.

We want to do a future podcast on wrestling tattoos, so if you know of any, drop me a line. The tats must be specifically related to wrestling, although a wrestler with a cool prison face tattoo might be considered. Anyway, this is the short trailer for the podcast, which can be found here:

Theoretically speaking, if someone were to have an opinion that tattoos not a good choice. And that I think they are awful, and I freakin' hate everything about them.

In your view, what would be the advisable way for this, theoretical, person to follow up in this thread?

I always wanted a tattoo, but was too much a perfectionist to figure out which one.  As the years passed, I ultimately identified I was beyond the point of getting a tattoo without sending out a symbolic S.O.S to my people

Is it just me or does "Wrestling Tats" always seem to look like 'Wrestling Twats'?

Maybe it's the time I spent in England. Or the time I spent watching Ted Lasso. Or maybe I need new glasses.

You can praise IMAR for not advising anybody to get a tattoo, as he does in the full-length video, or maybe both Coaches for providing the hard facts about tats in the podcast: They hurt like ****!

I don't have a tattoo myself, but I think a good tat is pretty cool. I think a great tat is awesome! In fact, I'm going to give JOMBO™ a tattoo (totally my idea) in his next strip.

And when I do give JOMBO™ a tat (an idea that is totally mine), it will be backwards, of course, because he did it himself using the mirror at the jail in the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, and that mirror is made of polished metal, and, moreover, he doesn't understand the concept of lateral inversion.

You don't want to know how he got the black and yellow colors. Just try not to think about it.

Some of the best wrestlers have no tattoos and, while to each is own, a blank canvas of skin to me is usually a preferable way to go.

Clean arms, legs. and torso with the focus on the sport not on the decorations or distractions.

I could be wrong but I don't recall seeing them on Taylor, Retherford, Nolf, Nickal, Cenzo, Nick Lee, or  Levi Haines -- yes, Penn State guys.

I also don't remember seeing them on Stieber, Cael Sanderson, Dake, Pat Smith or Yianni.  All 4 timers.

If you get a face tattoo, you have likely chosen to be an outcast or pariah for life (Mike Tyson) or a character in Moby Dick (Queequeg).

Hmm.  Which wrestlers have the worst (or most cliche-ridden) tats?

My father and stepfather were both Marine veterans of the Korean War.  My stepfather had a USMC with the Marine symbol: eagle, globe, and anchor, tattooed on his left upper arm.  He was one of those guys that got into weight training during the 50/60s and really had some jacked arms, and that "tat" was pretty intimidating.  My step dad was a bad ass.  Believe me, I know, when he told me not to pick on my sister or there would be consequences, there was.  We lived in urban KC when I was growing up and there was a tavern on the corner that my parents frequented often.  I once saw my step dad put those popeye arms into action in a "little disagreement" in the tavern.  My youth was never boring.

As dad eventually lived into his 70's and his muscles atrophied and shrank, that tat didn't age too well, but the legacy behind the tat left a lifetime impression.

My lawyers will be in touch! You shall immediately Cease and Desist you may not include a tat on Jombo unless including the following footnote.

By talking in the third person about oneself then switching to first person.

Theoretically speaking, if someone were to have an opinion that tattoos are not a good choice, I personally would think they’re awful and hate everything.

You missed the part about then switching back to 1st person.

Let's do this together - "someone" - then "I" - then "someone".

It's a literary device to imply the author temporarily lost track of the charade that they are not the 1st person.

Typically used in humorous writing, or at least attempts at it. Or sometimes just subtle humor.

Dumber than T-Rump and his hookers.

"T-Rump and his Hookers"

I was just at one of their concerts - those guys can rock the house.

I don't know for sure. I think that was them and they were good.

Or maybe I was just on pain meds and listening to the radio or could have been the neighbors' cats.
