I know wrestling math does not always work but coming off a dominant u23 world title and taking third at the zegreb only losing to Azarpira 8-7 who went on to beat snyder 6-3 do we give trumble a chance here. He took off this collegiate season to focus specifically on freestyle as well as i think to grow he wrestled 285 at midlands and looked considerably bigger.

No shade here, but I give him less of a chance than I give Cox...

I absolutely do not disagree it was just a result I did not see discussed at all and found it interesting so wanted to see peoples thoughts.

I hear ya. There is also Macc, Moore, Jackson, Aiello, Schultz.  Not that they're all better, but they're all there...

Trumble had a great showing at senior nats last month to put himself on the radar but I don't see any scenario where he gets past Jackson, Moore, or Cox.

Actually on second thought it will be tough but he can beat Cox if he sneaks into his room to mess with his alarm clock and leaves a complimentary ticket to the breakfast buffet.

Are you sure that was your second thought?

I have not heard of Trumble.   Sounds like an up and comer.   Captain America has to be defeated at some point I suppose.   I just don't think this is the year for that.

Is currently redshirting the season to focus on the U.S. Olympic Trials.
• Qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in Albania in October of 2023. His 97 kg title at the U23 World Championships secured his place. His first-ever international tournament brought a 4-0 weekend over, including tech falls for his last three bouts.

2022-23
• Runner-up at the 2022 World Team Trials at 92 kg. Started with a pin over former World Team member Downey in his first bout. Then in the semifinals, he reversed a loss and took out top seed and U.S. Open champion Caffey of Michigan State with an 11-0 tech. Trumble fell in the final series to Nate Jackson.
• Runner-up at the 2022 U.S. Open at 92 kg. Started as the top seed with a 10-0 tech. In the semifinals, downed UNC’s Shaw 15-4 before falling to Michigan State’s Caffey in the final, 11-7.
• Finished 2nd at ACC’s after being defeated by Pitt’s Nino Bonacconsi 2-1.

Thanks for that MP.   Until today/yesterday I had not heard of him.  Indeed it sounds like he is an up and comer.   I'm not as well informed as some around here.   That's why I stick around.   Learn some stuff.

What brought me to make the thread is he just took third at the zegreb open losing to amirezza azirpeli (I likely butchered that) 8-7 amirezza then went on to beat Snyder in the finals 6-3 ive not seen the matches so it could've been some flukey stuff or just a matchup thing I just found it interesting @mspart

You made it very clear in the first post.

I am such an idiot. I confused Trumble with Aiello at senior nats because I was in too much of a hurry to fire off a joke about eating Cox.

Trumble beat the guy who beat Macchiavello at the same Zegrab tournament.

The next week, Macchiavello beat Jackson.

I don't see how he beats Cox, let alone Snyder.  That said, his international results are pretty legit the last six months...

A tall task for sure.

Trumble is the people's champion (Blue Dragons excluded)

Yah, I find it very interesting too.   That's why I have been asking for more info on Trumble.   Thanks for posting.
