Has there ever been a coach who gets more annoyed/impatient when answering softball questions about his own team?

Ha, yup.  The Kueter bit was a little weird.  It kinda seemed like Tom was mad that Kueter was disappointed in his performance?

Typical Brands interview....

Reporter 1: Coach, what were your thoughts on the match tonight?

TB:  WHHHAT WERRRE MY THOOOUGHTS?!   Next question.

Reporter 2:  Were you happy with the win tonight?

TB:  Define happy.

Reporter 3:  What were your takeaways from the match?

TB:  We like our guys.

Reporter 4:  Any upcoming news for the die-hard Iowa fans?

TB:  You've been around long enough to know not to ask that question.

Gotta wonder why do the reporters show up for these?

PS:  did anyone ask if the Focus is still at the training center?  TB is still on the board correct?

I wonder if Brands is simply growing old and tired. Still a few beats away from yelling at the reporters to get off of his lawn, but he's not far. I'm sure several of us can relate.

Just seemed to me that Iowa focused more on attacking on their feet in the practice room. Looked like Minnesota focused a lot on bottom technique compared to neutral & top. Top looked a little better than neutral in some matches.

Maybe I'm just projecting but there is a stagnant feel to OSU and Iowa. Its not great that my favorite guys in Iowas lineup are all transfers. Also its kind of a sad thought, but if there was no NIL, I think Iowa would be getting less of the transfers than PSU for sure.

I was thinking Oklahoma State has looked pretty solid recently, and Iowa looked good on Friday.

And I don't think there would be nearly as many transfers without NIL.

yeah but thats obvious, my point is that Iowa wouldn't have many selling points beyond NIL.

Lol I’m no Iowa fan but this is silly.

They have arguably the best atmosphere to wrestle in, and in a state where people actually care about wrestling.

New facilities coming

Say what you want about the Brands bros but they know how to coach and can also churn out successful adults (with some exceptions)

It’s a far cry from the NLWC but HWC does have some solid guys, most notably Spencer Lee of course

This is basically what I was getting at, I can see where me saying the have no selling points was clumsy

Even as is, have they gotten any transfers in recent years besides Woods that would start for Penn State?

no but that goes to my point, if PSU wanted franek or caliendo you think they had no shot cause of the mystique around iowa?

I’m not really sure what your point was tbh.  You said Iowa would get less transfers than PSU without NIL, but they’re only getting PSU’s leftovers as is, which would likely be the case even without NIL.

I guess I'm sneaking around the idea that Iowa has an image problem which i don't like, also PSU's massive pull is not good for wrestling.
