Over John Smith 6 time world and Olympic champion (consecutively) If I remember correctly, Uetake did lose a match in the Olympic Trials (Japan) to Yoshiro Fujita.....Fujita then competed for OSU NCAA Champion and most likely 2 timer if he isn't seriously injured first round of the 1972 NCAA's and has to default out. I don't think anyone is clear on this but I believe he lost a match in '63 placing 3rd at Nats so that wouldn't have been Fujita (he wouldn't have been a teenager yet). I just did some Googling and found an excerpt from the old mat.com forum which is now closed.....In an article I read, this was the reason Fujita came to OSU....Uetake alerted Roderick of him. I went a couple of clinics at Grove City years ago....Jim Humphrey (Indiana) one week and Dave Schultz (Wisconsin) the other. I'm sure they had ulterior motives for being there (wink)....at the clinics were Kenny Ramsey, Rex Holman and Adam DiSabato.....Hellickson got all 3 though. The Schultz clinic was super....not that Hump was bad. Schultz renamed a hold the "Grove City leg hook" to add a little humor.
