Seven.

With Santo's expulsion it stands at 221 - 213. With McCarthy's resignation it will be 220 - 213.

The Special Election for NY's Third is February 13. Not sure when the California's Twentieth will occur.

I was off just a little.  When the hurricane went thru the house it also scattered some delayed fuse hand grenades and land mines about the place.  Definitely go with ServePro.

I think the New York Third could go either way, but the California Twentieth is solidly Republican.

So post-special elections the Republican majority will be 7 or 9.

He just announced it today in an OpEd he wrote for the WSJ. He said he is resigning at the end of the month, so yes.

Turns out you were very clear. I missed the word "why" in the question. He did not, other than the generic "to serve my country in other ways", or some such.
