To paraphrase Terry (Tom?) Brands, Jim Jordan loves politicians, but he doesn't love legislating. I just read that in 16 years Jim Jordan has not gotten a single piece of legislation signed into law.

The Center for Effective Lawmaking ranked him 431st out of 435 Congressmen in the last Congress.

His bi-partisanship scores are in the same range. Only 3 members are below him.

And this is the best speaker candidate my fellow Republicans could come up with?

That’s the way a lot of legislators work.  The speaker, I see more as a referee than an inventor.

Great example except….he’s never been speaker. He’s only been a committee ranking member 4-5 years.

It’s kind of sketchy attributing authorship of legislation.  Laws are written with a lot of legalese to make sure that they’re focused, and can contain loopholes for congressmen.  Jordan is a lawyer, and has little legislation in his name.  Pelosi, who is not a lawyer, has a lot of legislation.  Mostly resolutions, but to me, that means her staff did the work.

It was Terry. I remember seeing it.

If by little you mean zero, you would be correct. To me that means neither he, nor his staff, did any work.

Jordan is not a lawyer.  He went to law school but he never practiced law or took a bar exam.

Sure, that’s possible, but not likely.  There’s something to him that so many would be voting for him.

I mean, people can move the goal posts, wiggle waggle, and excuse the facts in any number of ways, and they will, people will for legislators on both sides of the aisle.

The relevant facts here are that in 18 years as a legislator, much of the last few with increasing influence, he has never passed a piece of legistlation, is currently under and defying a congressional subpeona, and is somehow close to being named speaker of that house.

Well, I’m not too worried about it.

If legislative record were the marker, Jim wouldn't be in the running.   Apparently that is not a thing.  Has Hakeem Jeffries passed lots of legislation he authored?  Is he qualified by his legislation writing prowess? I don't know, but he was up for the vote today.

He's at least not a conspirator to trying to throw our votes and and overthrow a duly elected President.

To me, there'd be no dispute over that one.

Jordan saved use from more new stupid laws, or at least didn't contribute to the mess.  🤷‍♀️

I agree! Why,  when I look for a speaker I look for someone who denies democracy,  tries to overthrow it,  and ignores subpoenas!

Freedom!

We'll find out in 2025!

After looking at Jim Jordan's resume, AOC will surely get a pass from MAGA on her bartender resume.  Wow, his is sparse AF and he is soon to be Speaker - third in line(?) to POTUS.

I like the word "catastrophic" as applied to someone who hasn't even hinted at "catastrophic" in his career.

Funny how language is used to sound the dog whistle,  eh, friends?

Yeah,  but he's an authoritarian.  That's the measuring stick as we stand today.

As Joe Scarborough,  darling of the "tea party" and " not the brains of the outfit" said today,  " yes,  it CAN get worse. "
