What reason would Brands have to bench him?

The theory on HR was after he got decked by Tyler Dow he got benched. To say there was disagreement on this point would be to put it mildly.

Given that he has not wrestled in the three weeks since, it has to be injury. "Making a point" for this long would be counter-productive. They will not be running a 165 lber out to wrestle B1Gs and thereby essentially forfeiting the weight, so they need Assad ready. If he is healthy he is getting ready by wrestling. So he must be injured.

But maybe it could still be a water fowl with colorful feathers.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My question had a point. Thank you for making it. The answer I was looking for was that there is zero reason for Brands to bench him for 3 competitions for getting pinned. The OP's question had a certain "breakfast" quality to it.

I always find it entertaining that in a sport where every single athlete gets injured at some point in their career, people do not want to attribute missed matches to injury. Entertaining and dumb.

Not really on topic but I watched a young man on Sat have his dreams of going to state crushed by a lady who felt he didn't follow her finger well enough. I don't blame her but he was very upset. I felt terrible for him.

Different sport but I know a kid who was going to be a varsity starter Fr year of HS but parents and coach put him back in ~week after a concussion because they had a big club tournament.  Concussion again, never played in high school.  It's serious stuff

I knew a kid in New Jersey who always wanted to be a great heavyweight, but his Uncle said he "never had the makings of a varsity athlete"...he went on to a successful career in the waste management business...

I can do you one better.  At the regional tournament we had a kid with a lead get slammed by a wrestler from the host school.  The host school's trainer declared him fit to go.  We ended up losing the match and immediately the trainer came over to look at him a 2nd time and said he had a concussion and had to withdraw from the rest of the tournament.  He had no good reason for why he didn't have one 5 minutes earlier and was allowed to continue, but couldn't continue then.

How about Assad entering the B1G seeding conversation with a 4-1 B1G record instead of a 4-4, having just skipped Brooks, Salazar, and Finesilver.

I lost conference this year because a Coach literally told the kid what to say to the Trainer so the trainer would make the “determination” that he was unable to continue. The coach admitted later at Regionals..

I still think the rules should be the way they are

Yeah, it was probably those evil Hawkeyes trying to game the system by not wrestling.

Are you implying there are actually some non-evil hawkeyes?

Word on the street is that Terry Brands is attempting to get Assad expelled from Iowa for getting pinned at Wisconsin.

Has anyone checked, maybe his shoulders are still pinned to the mat in Madison?

If I recall some people thought it was the opposite. They had to double check to see if they were ever there at all?
