How much of the punishment was due to the fact that Northern Colorado had an admin on the committee that adjudicated the situation?

well... former UNC admin, but I still see that as pertinent.  Such a rare punishment for something that happens all the time!

I agree 100%

Everyone is dogging on the NCAA but Perry should get full blame here. I hate to say it as an OSU alum but the dude has attracted trouble ever since he got into coaching. When joined OSU staff our dudes started getting hurt - a lot. Like several season ending injuries a year. And they started wrestling very defensive and conservative and the only pin move anybody used was Perry's arm bar literally for several years. It was a very boring time as an OSU fan, and concerning because obviously the athletes were not getting trained properly for wrestling or for their health. Then he gets Daton in trouble by giving his Dad illegal supplements, Daton almost got a 4 year ban from NCAA wrestling and he should have been fired for that. Then our top recruits aren't performing well and all the "OSU doesn't develop its athletes" stuff comes out. Then he balloons up and puts on like 100 pounds and nobody on staff says anything which was so weird. Then rumors fly about Perry living with his athletes, getting wasted all the time in Stillwater, and being a general nuisance. Then the coaching switch to DT, he sweet talks Christian Carroll into following him to ISU, and a few months later CC bails. Then he joins the ISU RTC, Iowa State gets a bunch of injuries that same season. Then there's reports about him contacting athletes inappropriately - this was a year ago, if we knew it on forums then he is obviously being too obvious. Now he's in trouble with the NCAA... I mean at some point you have to give the guy credit for not being a great influence

This was not the first time that an assistant coach at Okie State was partying too much. How could we forget them running the first 4X Naty Champ, Pat Smith? They not only ran him out of Stillwater, they ran him out of the entire state of Oklahoma. He was voted off the island and exiled to Oklahoma Lite aka Arkansas.

Could you go through the particulars? I heard about a dui (or 2) and know that he is the tip of the Arkansas wrestling spear; but, care to connect the dots?

Some of the finer details may be incorrect and the exact time line may also be off, but here it is....

So there were several DUIs. Someone told me at least 3 but I'm not sure.

Greg Hatcher owned an insurance company, had relocated from Michigan to Arkansas. He was single handedly funding HS wrestling in Arkansas. When I say that he was funding it, that is an understatement. He would approach a HS and offer to purchase 2 full mats. The singlets, warm ups, shoes, & headgear for the team was on the school. It was not hard for schools to say "Welcome to Arkansas!"

He hears about Pat's issues and makes a call, Pat moves to Little Rock, and becomes the rep for the mat company, shoe company, and any other gear outlet they might need. Then the arrangement is made with the next school, I will donate this and you will buy the rest from your rep Pat. Oh and he does clinics and has opened up a club.

Someone else mentioned that he left for the fishing and that could be. The people of Arkansas have truly been dealt a winning hand! Greg has also started several college programs. I live in Texas and Texas could benefit from a guy like Greg Hatcher!

I hope that helps!
