Ron Desantis

He's been very quiet the last couple of years. Is he trying to slide under the radar to not attract negative attention from Trump you think? Otherwise I feel like he's want to start being highly visible in the public eye.

I think he is going to hopefully ramp it up. I would support him over Vance or Rubio currently.

I would love to see Desantis. However I think he burned some bridges in ‘24, as silly as it may be, and 28 may be too soon for those bridges to be reconstructed.  IF, a Democrat wins in ‘28, I can see DeSantis being a very viable candidates in ‘32 if he was inclined to do so.

Would like to see Rubio run and win in ‘28, just not sure he has the charisma to be electable, again..as silly as that may be.

Wouldn’t be a fan of Vance.   Hegseth…that’s a joke. And not even one worth laughing at.

Don't you think there's a large portion of the Trump base that eats up what Hegseth serves them?People used to think Trump was a joke when he announced and here we are...

1) Trumps base is much much smaller than it was 8 years ago.   He only won in '24 because as bad as an option he was, there were absolutely zero good options

2) He cannot run again, ever.   His political power will be gone with his term, he is not a leader.   Many even on the right are tired of the show, and ready for a new, completely different show.  This includes many of his formerly strong supporters, and they have been outspoken about it.

I think of you gave his base, even those that have drifted away, the choice between him and a Democrat 99% still vote for him. I'd even say if you put in Vance or Hegseth it would still break close to that.

Vance would have a good chance of winning, I'm just not a fan.   Hegseth doesn't have a chance to win the primary, which he would have to win first.  He has pissed off very influential portions of the military, which is a republican stronghold.

I'd venture to say the ones he's pissed off in the military are the highly ranked individuals which make up far less of that stronghold than your average enlisted men. I'd also be willing to say those average enlisted men that make up the republican stronghold that is the military would like what Hegseth espouses- minus those on the Abraham Lincoln. Unless you have some alternative anecdotes which I would be curious to hear more about.

I believe there are much more in the military not happy with Hegseth than you seem to, but even with that, influential was a significant part of my description above.

You think he’d have a good chance, I disagree.   Such is such.

I'm not sure I'd say he has a good chance, but he does have a chance. He has that combative quick communication style that Trump has that people seem not to mind. On a debate stage I think he'd make desantis look inferior from a masculinity standpoint that conservatives seem to place significant emphasis on.

Im not trying to argue with you, just having a dialogue.

I know, and we just disagree, nothing wrong.

I don't think he would win a debate with DeSantis.   Like I said, people are tired of the show and looking for a new much different show.  DeSantis would be able to debate with actual substance on the issues.  Hegseth would appeal to the fraternity houses.

I'd probably vote for a Vance/Rubio ticket. Not sure about Hegseth as others have pointed out.

I'm more hoping the Democrats can put together a halfway plausible middle'ish candidate(s)... just not sure that those who are out there will get support. I have a feeling the Trump effect will cause the pendulum for the D's to swing a little to far left.

Absolutely. For every action, there's a reaction. If we get a radical and vengeful Democratic president, we can blame trump. I never would have supported such a person a couple years ago.

DeSantis is the one I would support at this time.   I like JD but not sure about him.   Rubio has been pretty impressive as State Dept Chief.   DeSantis, Rubio, at this point.   JD is behind those two and maybe others as well.   I love JDs debating method as he is very clear about what he says and comes with facts etc.   I'd support Condoleeza but she's not interested.   I was supportive of her since she left public service.

😂😂😂 he whined about fact checking that was happening in the vp debate 😂

Because they were wrong, the moderators were not supposed to fact check, that is the other debators job to do.   And he proved they were wrong in their fact checking.   He wiped the moderators and Walz off the table in that debate.

Now you know why we have Trump. It was a reaction to an action.  What the Dems did under Biden put us where we are.

what do those on the right think about this? Who are your choices?

Rubio? Vance? Hegseth? Any others?

Machoism and physicality don't outweigh the lack of personal output and my mistrust of his slicked greasy hair.  Rubio and Vance are the popular candidates.  I will likely be compelled to vote for one of them or DeSantis.  For several reasons, I like RFK Jr and Rand Paul.  For the USA, give me folks that support English-speaking, constitutional, assimilating, work-first, privately free, publicly decent priorities.  Yet...

If a president ran on a platform of making citizens the healthiest they’ve ever been through nutrition and fitness, and had a track record of getting things done, I'd evangelize... Investing in family-level incentives and community support would reset our country's physical and mental health.  Live longer.  Live cheaper.  Live better.  We need some brain resets and get back to civility.

"according to two" so he has one close friend and one associate?

What does everyone else say?

Why couldn't / wouldn't the Dems run a defensible candidate?  Where are the Sam Nunns, Daniel Patrick Moynihans, and even JFKs of the party?  I find it weird that people from other countries will openly ask an American for whom they plan to vote.  I worked in an international company and was asked on separate occasions by a Canadian, a Frenchman, and a German.  In each instance I stated that, "I have declared that I will vote for a steaming pile of dog feces before I will vote for Hillary Clinton.  And this year I get to prove it."  I have had to hold my nose and vote thusly twice more since then.

People who tolerate me on a daily basis . . . they are the real heroes.

I get the unlikability of Hillary Clinton, but there was no denying her level of experience that she had and overall qualifications for the job.
