Well yea, I think at this point it’s a canned response for every candidate. I’m gonna fix the economy! I’m gonna lower gas prices! Etc etc etc…ok man what are you really going to do because improving those things are in the job description regardless of party.

Lowering gas prices is always a reasonable possibility because they are so volatile. Same w natural gas. Thats why energy is not included in the core cpi. Saying you're gonna lower prices across the board is an obvious lie though.

Some will. Most won't unless they think he'll be mayor for several more years and will get his way with the city council, etc.

Mamdani Election Bombshell: More Fraudulent Votes Cast Than Margin of Mamdani's 'Victory,' Says Election Auditor

“The problem we uncovered is that the New York City and the New York State Boards of Elections have no idea if Mamdani won the mayoral election either. And that’s where the rubber meets the road here.”
…

After examining 1 million of the total 2.2 million voters who participated in the election, her organization discovered that 7  percent were nonexistent in records, 6 percent had fake Social Security numbers, and 10 percent didn’t even live in NYC.

In total, they identified 230,000 illegal votes, which exceeded Mamdani’s 207,000 vote margin of victory over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent.

Ah, I was wondering what Naomi Wolf was up to after no one cared to interact with her insane Covid takes anymore.

The article doesn't pass the smell test. I followed their sources which link to a report about immigration parole for 30,000 people nationwide, not 200,000 fraudulent votes in the NYC election. There's also zero reporting on this that I can find out of right wing media mostly copy/pasting this same article, or talking about the article. This all points to it being partisan commentary designed for profit rather than a legitimate concern for the sanctity of the NYC election.

Sorry to take the fun out of the rant lol

Unpossible, @Offthemat claims his sources are superior

Dumb (that tweet/clip).  I’m sure the 30% is compared to typical prices in NYC.  That doesn’t mean it will be 30% cheaper than NJ.  And even if it is, have fun getting your groceries back to NJ via public transportation or paying the tolls to drive!

I sincerely hope the Costco membership suggestion was a joke…

Should nyc tax payers pay for discounted communist groceries for other states residents?

Very few residents of other states will actually shop there, unless maybe they work nearby in which case they do contribute to the tax base.

You’ve no idea what will happen boss

the answer you were looking for is no.   Tax payer money should not be used to pay for New Jerseys poor people to get discount groceries.     Let alone nyc residents which is wrong as well

Stop.  Very few people are going to go through the hassle/cost of going to the city just to save a little on groceries.  Which won’t even be much of a discount compared to what the prices in NJ already are.

You can call it a stupid idea if you want.  But complaining about non-existent non-New Yorkers shopping there is just another example of conservatives looking for something to complain about.

You won’t find fraud if you don’t look for it.  Which is exactly what happens in blue states.  And my comment was far from a rant.  lol

Are the 30% cheaper prices before or after the tax hike to pay for the grocery stores?

Tax payers should not pay $1 for nj residents glomming onto this experiment.

I was referring to the taxes on New Yorkers. This will be similar to the rent freeze where the people that benefit the most are the ones that can already afford the higher prices.

I’m not sure you’ve got the context here…

Please elaborate.  Here’s the list of reasons apparently

https://nypost.com/2026/07/25/us-news/families-of-9-11-want-to-ban-mamdani-from-25th-anniversary/

They’re pretty much all about things people other than him have done/said, and even then often taken out of context.  If every politician was punished for things someone they once supported said, there’d be no politicians.   And of course the whole “he refused to condemn ‘globalize the intifada’!” is such a stupid argument.  He literally said he doesn’t use that phrase.

One of the organizers also said it was “outlandish” that Mamdani considered American Muslims to be victims of NYC, which is pretty Islamaphobic itself.  Mamdani lived in NYC during 9/11, he has just as much of a right as anyone else (and being the mayor, probably more) to be there.  Of course he responded to questions about this with his typical class.

Check out the petition too.  These probably aren’t victims’ families, but lots of Islamaphobia here:

https://www.change.org/p/please-sign-to-support-honoring-the-memory-of-those-lost-on-september-11th-with-dignity

Some examples:

If he had it his way, Zohran Mamdani would be flying the plane

Deport or jail mondummy as an islamic tertorist

Remember: We said that we would never forget! Mamdani represents the Muslim murderers that attacked us on 9/11. He is guilty of that by association and his religion. He is obligated by his religion to hate us, lie to us about it and want us to die! Look it up!

Because he is a terrorist and all that associate with him are ones aswell, we have forgotten our people that have died at hands of these Muslims

Muslims do not belong in the west, and they certainly don't belong in a ceremony in remembrance of a tragedy they celebrated

Even a lot of the non-Islamaphobic comments talk about things like “keeping politics out of 9/11.”  Which is stupid since it’s been a tradition for the mayor to attend…rightfully so.
