I would be interested in knowing what weight Jayden Raney was registered for before he opted out of doing the open. He made 55kg last year and I think if he can gut out making 125 for a year something to the nature of the following would be their best lineup to push PSU. I truly think Zinkin and Raney may have offer a higher ceiling than Troy which is probably stupid because his ceiling is likely second as is theirs although a functioning Raney at 125 may be that dude.

125: Raney/Zinkin/Spratley
133:Jax/Raney
141:Jax/Raney
149:Vega
157:Robideau
165:Dee/Facundo/Rotudledge/Ski?
174:Dee/Facundo/Norman
184: I think Michael white is the best option not listing anyone else
197:Merill
285:Ross

Jordyn Raney will never touch 133 imo if you were referring to him at 33. Jayden maybe.  I think 141 is a stretch too for Jordyn.

Jaydyn wrestled 132 at Iron man this last year. And he went 132 in 2025 then made 55kg. I'm just gonna assume he's grown, but I'd say there's a chance. I feel like they said in FRL they weren't going 125 and 149. I'm probably off, but they def said they were going to be multiple weight classes apart. Maybe someone remembers

Is Vega definitely going 149?  I think 141 would be better for him and the team.  His length was such a huge factor in his success and will be less of a factor up at 149.  I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up like Micic and really struggling moving up a weight.

How many undefeated true freshman NCAA champs have struggled when moving up a weight sophomore year.  Maybe @Wrestleknownothing has a graph.  🙅‍♀️

I was about to say Myles Martin until I decided to proofread.

Hutton wanted to move up but they wouldn't let him.

BTW:  proofreading is good ... ask @mr.nonothingatall

Isn’t Holman part of the 27 class?

If RR stays at 25 it does open some room for debate. This weekend sheds some light on things minus the obvious ability of riding.

I think Ronnie is 3rd in the pecking order right now

Sounds like Vega will be at 49 next season.

With the new eligibility rules (probably), how crazy would it be if Vega one upped Dake and Starocci, and won five titles at five different weights?

Vega should red-shirt. His issues w/ Eche make me worried about how he'll handle taller versions at 49. Maybe take a page from Taylor's playbook ..  If Im remembering correctly in high school Taylor didnt wrestle the "off season" and instead worked on strength training when he jumped from 119 (?) to 135 (?). But, I dont think one summer will be enough at the DI level

Come on. You know that I'm in the bag for OSU, but Eche gave him fits, esp in that first match. Eche pushed him all over the mat, so much so that Vega kept stumbling.

Sorry ... timed out of my edit: I just looked it up

Van Ness and Valencia are listed as the same height as Eche. 8 more pounds of muscle concerns me.

Jaxon Joy is listed at 6' ... an inch taller than what Vega is listed ... plus the 8 pounds. Again, this concerns me.

Then again, Vega always figured out a way to win. No reason to think he can't do it again. Im sure he will, but it might take longer than 6 months.

Idk? what can I say? I'm worried that he wont be strong enough or he'll get thicker/stronger and lose his flexibility

I hope the top guys at 149 give Vega the same fits.

Ill take the provocation and ask one question: Who did you think was going to win after the first period of the first Eche match?

Vega's cut was pretty significant afaik. He maintained it well though. It'll be interesting to see if he goes for it again closer to the season.

Vega.  It was 0-0 on the feet and I figured the mat wrestling heavily favored Vega.  But I'm not sure why you would separate out 1 period of wrestling to try to make a point about 2 guys who wrestled 5 more periods after that.

They wrestled two matches and Vega won them both.  They were close, but Ech scored 3 escapes in 14 minutes of wrestling.  I don't know in what world you call that fits, but if it is fits, I hope the top guys at 149 give him the same fits.

Two small things

:20 - :30: Vega does not look sure-footed. He stumbles and at one point gets snapped to his hip. This did not inspire confidence

2:00: classic Vega defense but at the time I didnt know. If you did, bully you.

Eche's outside steps promised some sort of successful scoring opportunity later in the match ... and about 6:00 he had Vega in danger. In hindsight, it might be obvious that Vega lives in those situations. But at the time, I did not know this. Again, if you did, congrats.

Re fits: if you cant see any of what I see, the score indicates that Vega musta had some issue.

I agree that Ech almost but didn't score.  I'm not sure what else there is to that.  If he had another 14 minutes, then I assume he would almost score a few more times.

And again, if that is fits, then I hope the top guys at 149 give him fits.

PS: why do you have such strong, condescending reactions to my takes on a team we are both fans of? I am worried that Vega might have a more difficult time at 149, and I offered a couple of reasons why. It's not a crazy opinion. Others in the thread have said the same. But I'm the one you call out as absurd. I guess this hurts my feelings. . . at least as much as feel8ngs can get hurt by strangers on a message board.
