Leaning into  trash behavior for some extra views is not good for wrestling.

Have you ever seen a Braeden Davis match? They’ve done nothing to that kid either…by those standards you shouldn’t watch NCAA wrestling either.

Davis has crossed the line but I've never seen him throw a closed fist.

How did they lean into it? They rebooked the matchup as the main event for their next card. Also by booking Kamzat vs Dannis who have actively tweeted they'd have liked to have been in the Arman brawl and have a history of brawl at events.

Oh they fined them? Cause they didnt ban them. The fine sure hurt considering you offered them another payday to come back as main event.

They only condemned the behavior until it went viral and the they flipped their opinion and did a rematch. Good business ethics.

The second match didnt have a brawl but you just had another one this weekend because this behavior has been rewarded and you're actively booking dudes who are known to exhibit this exact behavior. Aka swing before or after the bell.

you think it was just an act of divine intervention? or you think there were stipulations? you think perhaps RAF took measures?

it's sports. fights happen. no one (other than myself) got hurt. it's not the end of the world.

And nothing happened... until this weekend when the same thing happened because a) you booked guys who would make it happen and b) you rewarded the behavior before.

If you are failing fire codes in your warehouse and it doesnt burn down you cant just yell "well nothing has happened" the stage is set for a fire. That's you right now. Except you already had a fire and said its no big deal we will keep breaking code.

Comparing what Braeden Davis did to the 2 all out group brawls that occured on RAF (and are seemingly encouraged) is actually r3tarded

I’m pretty sure Davis has landed more solid shots in his multiple incidents than those “all out brawls”…kitty cats pawing at each other…

Has crossed the line multiple times…and I’m not sure if you’ve ever been properly kicked in the abdomen/chest…

Desanto was rewarded with an Iowa free ride after trying to maim a wrestler. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Antics never have happened before.

I want to throw out there that a dual in the 80s and 90s was ten fist fights every time Iowa wrestled someone.

We came out at least two duals with them where we had someone with a broken orbital.

I was at Tulsa the year the cops pepper sprayed an entire section…

then the tourney just kept right on going despite the irreparable harm to the reputation of wrestling…

We had a mother push another over a railing in Ohio. Pepper spray would have probably just angered her...🚬

We dont need to talk about me bud. I've been through all the fun and crazy things a young man gets into. I agree Davis should have been punished at some points. And DeSanto. And the kimura kid from Colorado ( i think he was). The point stands though that what they did was not nearly as egregious AND they are not in a league who is actively hiring bad Apples. The comparison falls more on Cael then the NCAA. But the NCAA is not blameless either.

Look. I myself have been in fist fights over wrestling (and football) . But no one rewarded me for it ( i was punished) . And no one was actively booking matches to cause fist fights or booking matches that are very likely ( more than likely) to end in fist fights and then feigning ignorance like a complete pussy like Willy is.

Was it on TV? Were  people claiming that was good for wrestling like they are claiming RAF is? People are talking out of both sides of their mouths. You can like RAF and think its bad for wrestling but dont tell me these brawls are a positive you're bullshiiting at that point.

People act like im advocating for any of that. Im not. That wasn't good for wrestling either. But RAF is purposefully leaning into and booking matches that will end in ways that are not good for the sport. For money. Antics are one thing, setting the stage for antics is another.

People are just saying these things happen. Not that the brawls are positive. I think every time you put Davis out there you are risking an altercation…and clearly they are fine doing that. I’m not going to stop watching NCAA wrestling or Penn State wrestling for that matter. Just applying your standard…which is based on your own speculation of intent.

I’m not necessarily talking about you, stating if you think a closed fist elevates the severity of this you would be mistaken.

I agree with you @forkemaz, for the most part.

The main reason is that Danis was clearly looking to be a turdbiscuit coupled with Chimaev clearly looking to duck Nickal.

That said, today's wrestling is extremely soft here in the states.

This shit was fine.  I hope they get a grip on it, sure, because if they aim to be UFC in size, they will need to be.  There is nothing wrong about wanting to aim for UFC-esque greatness.  The exposure and moneys that would flow to wrestlers would be like nothing anyone aside for Olympic Champions have ever seen.

These wrestling “purists” saying RAF is ruining wrestling are the dads who berate high school kids reffing at youth tournaments and complain wrestlers can’t weigh in naked anymore.
