bump (learned from ionel)

any more suggestions / critiques for Flo from those who haven’t chimed in yet?

even if they ignore an invite to this particular this thread, it can be quickly pulled for reference if / when they surprise and show up again unannounced. Either way they will hear about this before the week is over.  What they do about this is anyone’s guess.

If serious about making changes Flo should contract with someone who knows how to conduct an unbiased survey.  There are probably folks on here that have experience.  Likely it'd need to be a two part or more, you'll learn direction on the first.  Flo should have email contact of those who have dropped, those still customers as well as potential new contacts on this forum. Why did folks drop?  How do you fix that going forward?  There are also UX experts right here on this forum that can and prob would help for free.  The apps that I use are always surveying and asking what users want, how they like new changes etc.  Just did one for Rouvy.  There are folks on this forum that care about the future of wrestling as do the customers, use their expertise.  That said Flo has to be the one to make decisions of what would be nice but just cant do now and direction for updates, new features UX etc.  Its always good to keep surveying users about the product, changes, direction etc.  At the least the customers feel connection and that you care about how you are spending their money.

Total longshot but I wish Flo or Intermat or both would link Trackwrestling profiles to the rankings.  When intermat did this it was an awesome feature for me personally.  I'm not a big wrestlestat guy, not a hater, as I just don't prefer their interface.

Also, I feel Flo could benefit from having an official that is legit active on the show every now and then to breakdown and cover some of the close calls and rules interpretations.  A lot of schoolboy vitriol pointed at referees in the sport and these mouth breathers have no idea how difficult their job is and most of the time what the actual rules are.

Effin A, this. The entire site is wrestling, why can I not find a season preview for every team in the top 25 or every team that finished in the top 15 last season or something? Trickle out 1-2 season previews a week starting 2 months before the season or something, even if it’s just brief coverage over last season, who left, who came in, and expected lineups plus the bits coming out of the camps. Seems doable, but I’m just an internet troll who wants Michigan to be good 🤷🏽‍♂️ don’t think season previews help there lol

With you here. They have the staff time, so put it towards deep dives into more teams. The amount of attention put on Iowa for example could be put on another 10 teams.

Agree here as well. Quality over quantity, in this regard.

+1. I would go to Flo more often if it wasn't a social media feed experience.

This thread could go so many different directions. Since this is about what improvements could be made I will try to make this as positive as possible:

1. I’ve never watched ANY tournament where feeds or certain mats don’t crash at some point. It’s inevitably when we are trying to watch someone.

2. Their tournament software is absolute trash. They bought track. There was nothing wrong with track. Rebrand it and add to it. It’s still functionally the best bracketing software out there.

3. The talking heads and people running the socials seem to only know the same handful of names. Many people on this board have better wrestling knowledge than these guys. The problem is they are supposed to be the authority or standard on all this stuff. It should be reasonable to expect better. Meanwhile they seem to part ways with the folks with the depth of knowledge you would expect from the leader in the space.

4. The app functionality is spotty. Sometimes I can search for a match sometimes I cannot (mostly on appletv). I should be able to open the app on any platform and quickly get whatever I am looking for.

5. Their rankings are off almost all of the time. Guys in the wrong weights, no longer wrestling, ranked when they shouldn’t be or unranked and clearly should be. It seems like where they are positioned they could probably use the database they have, combine current stats, maybe a rankers input, and have AI pull it all together to be more accurate. Particularly important for kids trying to earn scholarships.

There are plenty more but this would be a start.

I only have a subscription so I can watch live streaming events, which is maddening when they experience technical difficulties. . .every . . . single . . . time! Work that out and I'm a happy camper.

I don't care about the content they produce; articles are generally poorly written and sometimes sophomoric- I quit reading a long time ago. Honestly, UWW produces better articles by ESL journalists (not even kidding). I don't listen to FRL; I don't watch their look-at-me productions. Wrestling is a peripheral sport, and the money isn't there to get "real" journalists and media, so I don't blame FLO at all. Whatever they do to their website and web-based content is fine with me, so long as they continue to get the rights to stream events.

All that said, as much as I hate "Woke-at-All-Costs" ESPN, ESPN+ has a ton of wrestling with minimal fuss. FLO should take notes.

You need to subscribe if you want full time access to their knowledge on this platform.  It's their lively hood not their hobby. Kozak often gives opinions and replies. I am a subscriber and watch the show recorded. I can't watch live or text or ask questions or buy them subs but would like them to have a subscribers forum for these suggestions.

Hello ****,

This is Adrian with FloSports. We previously spoke on the phone about your recent experience when trying to connect with someone on our FloWrestling team.

I just wanted to let you know that I passed your information along to my leadership team, and I explained to them everything we discussed. I was told that we can pass your information along internally, which has been done.

Thanks for your patience, ****

Best regards,

Now a follow up by the big guns to reinforce the pea shooter is the next step. Who will step up next?

I will only speak to Ceyon or Ollie.

Hey friends, appreciate y'alls input, and on many of the critiques, the content team agrees and is actively putting the problems in front of the people that can solve them or make our product better. We're with you on next gen and UI/UX tweaks.

Before I worked at Flo, I was just an obsessed wrestling fan and was of course annoyed by streams dropping. It's more annoying now that I'm in this position because we (the content team) don't have any control over the streams, but interface the most with fans/community. I do think we've made huge improvements on streams staying up over the past 3-5 years.

I absolutely agree that Flo's database needs to be better. I would prefer our data to look more similar to Wrestlestats. @killdozer had a great post on that in this thread, and I agree mostly with what he said.

Agree with adding a multiview on the app - great idea.

The suggestion about giving new members 50% off is an interesting idea. I don't know what would stop someone from just creating a new email every year tho to get the discount lol. It's worth noting that we "give away" more content for free now than we ever have. All of our content on the site is free, we frequently livestream portions of events on youtube for free, and we post most of the best matches from events to YT.

Concerning "clickbait" articles mentioned in the thread, those are SEO articles designed to help wrestling fans googling "how to watch (fill in the blank) tournament". That's not clickbait, that's just how search works, and we're trying to help wrestling fans find what they're looking for. I do understand it's probably annoying as a hardcore fan, but if you look at our college, high school, international, and women's tabs, all the articles are about what's going on in wrestling right now. Look at our socials - we post cool wrestling clips and videos/graphics of the latest wrestling news.

On some of the other things, I respectfully and fundamentally disagree. For instance, the above poster saying our wrestling knowledge is lacking is wild. We live and breathe wrestling. CP is a college wrestling freak when it comes to results over the past 20 years. Kyle Klingman is a walking version of the National Wrestling Hall Of Fame and no one covers women's wrestling better than Kyle. Andy Hamilton is a GOAT when it comes to wrestling journalists. I'd like to believe no one follows international wrestling closer than I do. David Bray is locked in on high school results/rankings. Who's editing wrestling videos better than Tyler and Connor right now? JD and Spey both have a pretty wide knowledge on all things high school, college, international, and women's wrestling. And then there's Bader, who has covered everything.

The above poster saying are rankings are "off most of the time" is wild. Most of the time, our college rankings look VERY similar to Intermats. In fact, this year, our college rankings performed the best at predicting All-Americans - 50 top 8 seeds earned All-American honors, Intermat had 52, Crystal Ball had 54, Flo had 55.

I also saw a post saying we should do more previews - we do every pre-season. Last year, I think we previewed 20 different programs.

@TNwrestlingsays we need to work WITH ESPN and Big 10 rather than against them. That sounds great, but also makes the assumption we're the one's trying to work against them. We pay the NCAA a ton just to get clips of the NCAA Tournament. We had a contract with the Big 10 and they wanted to keep it exclusive. We've tried to work out streaming contracts with them, but they don't want to share their rights. We cover everything - preview top duals every week, and often attend them even when we don't stream them, and send people to every conference tournament.

Again, I appreciate this thread and don't take for granted y'alls love for wrestling. We're not ignorant to the improvements that need to be made and are always trying to think of new/better ways to cover wrestling.

Offer a 50% 1 year subscription and I’ll rejoin immediately and announce it here.  Thank you sir for all you do for our sport!

I think 50% is a lot.  They should look at what others are doing consider different business models.  As an example my Rouvy subscription is priced monthly such that if I'm going to us it 8/9 months a year then the yearly price is a better deal.  They also give a discount to yearly subscribers who've been with them for multiple years, better chance of keeping those customers and no cost of resigning them.  There's also an option to put the annual subscription on hold.  Let's say I know I'm riding outside all summer, won't use the trainer for 3 months, put it on hold and pushes back my annual.  This could also be useful for Flo with say D1 only subscribers, again not losing the customer and lower the cost/hassel of resigning.

nope not at all - now let’s see if their marketing department follows through on it. Let’s also see if our bosses here create a specific go-to place to augment what’s already been suggested / critiqued - something for Flo to check in every now and then. I also think it would be a nice gesture for a few of you to write this guy and cc the rest of  them and thank him so they know we appreciate their time today. Light up his inbox with dozens of thank you’s - goes a long way.

LOL... Jon literally said it was an "interesting idea' and now you want to see if he's taking it to the marketing department and posting all their emails... LOL

Easier access to archived articles.

Looking up old recruiting classes and big boards is a pain because you have to manually pull them up year by year rather than being able to quickly jump from one year to the next. I'd love to see an archived list of recruiting class rankings, big boards, and rankings that is reasonably navigable. I don't even know how many times I've had to google

Bigboard rankings flowrestling 2019

Bigboard rankings flowrestling 2020

Bigboard rankings flowrestling 2021

and on and on to be able to see recruits and rankings from several years. Have them be a click or two away would be an easy and very welcomed feature IMO.

For Flo recorded tournaments; I would like to go to Replays, click on tournament, go to results bracket for any /each weight, in the bracket graphic for each match there is a window it says NV(no video) or preview and it links you to the match.

I'm with you here. It's harder to see improvements needed when you're in the system all the time. Heck someone in Flo could probably just sit with a few wrestling fans trying to use their site. That would show a bunch of suggested improvements immediately.

Even yesterday I got on there to find a schedule for the senior men's freestyle at US Open, can't find it. I found multiple lists of athletes, a 5-day time range, and a variety of hype articles, but not the actual information I need to engage with the actual wrestling matches that I'm interested in. I did find the info on USA Wrestling... to me that's an easy disconnect to fix.

If Bo Bassett doesn't ever do anymore than AA two times I will delete my whole ass account.....WrestlingRash sucks

Wouldn't it then be good for Flo to post a schedule of said stream.  How will any watch or why would they sign up if Flo can't even tell us dates and times.

usabracketing.com requires a login ... why?

They did post a schedule of the stream. You can find that...

HERE

As for USAbracketing, idk, they really need to ALL come together (flowrestling, ncaa, big ten, espn, usabracketing etc etc) if they want to give us all the best viewing experience. Hell, I'd pay more if it meant all of them working together.

But where did find that?  Flo has an International button and a Schedule button.  I checked both and found nothing useful.
