No. I knew some of the top guys from the 70s/80s, particularly ones from the Madison area. Dave Parks, Kaz, etc.

That was definitely before my time. Cain was a multiple time World champ. He would come out to Minnesota and compete. I lost a close one to him at Ken Pateras gym trying to go for a Personal best  He was very impressive. Turned out he has MS. 

I was trained by Gnerre. You may remember him. He was an 80s guy that was 242 and 275. A lot of the old pro wrestlers came out of the power lifting game. Back in that era several Minnesota records were world records. Your dad was definitely from the wild west era of power lifting.

I actually knew Kaz and Dave Parks. Hung out w/ Kaz several times as a kid. My dad got Powerlifting USA magazine and I'd read it as a kid. I just don't remember that Cain guy. I remember constantly reading about guys like Ricky Crain, Larry Pacifico, John Kuc, Ed Coan, Lamar Gant, etc. 

My dad was 6'1" which was a little tall for a 242 lber but still had at least a couple state records for a while. There was one article about him in Powerlifting USA magazine; I still have it.
