He’s very exciting off the mat.  Unfortunately his actual wrestling will put you to sleep.  Well except for that Bastida match

Haha I do agree with this, been this way since freshman year

I agree and for my own piece of mind. So, can we make a pact? We will no longer feed the story. You in? Maybe other folks will, too.

I'm out of AJF.

This place isn’t feeding the problem. There’s like 40 posters here tops. Meanwhile Flo, FB, IG, Tik Tok give that guy thousands of views anytime he so much as scratches his nose. And they all profit from it so why would they stop.

I feel about him the way I do about the president. Anybody who walks with the Lord can't be all bad.

It’s all a grift homie these people care about no one but themselves

Yeah, but they're sooo good for the sport.

I’d argue there is a difference between politicians whose job it is to represent and be honest to their constituents and athletes who are entertainers. If AJ starts a reality TV show then runs for political office then I would agree

It’s all a character though. From his Christianity to Call Outs, all AJ wants is attention. Same with Jimmy, he only posts for attention. And it works for both of them as proved by the countless discourse caused by both. I’m willing to bet they are both completely different people offline

Off the mat/offline, AJ has proven to have some shortcomings.  I think we see who he is all the time and in that regard I respect that he isn't fake.  As a person he has a way to go before whoever his spiritual leader will accept him.

I'm sure people watching ESPN saw Ferrari matside "coaching" Antrell Taylor and Chris Minto in the finals. Anyone think that is because he genuinely cares about his teammates and wants to coach them up? Or is it because he knows he will likely be seen on camera and sees it as an opportunity to bring more attention to himself?

I’m sure if it’s the latter, then He told a zillion people.  One of those zillion is one of the 40 posters on this board.  We are likely to get to the bottom of this immediately.

remember this was the cope everyone used when they would try to defend the Desanto and Ferrari shenanigans? "It helps the sport grow"

Still waiting to meet those "Desanto putting somebody in a Kimura and Ferrari doing a split with middle fingers really made me want to sign my kid up for wrestling" 🤡

It's the same Bull RAF will say about why they booked Georgi vs Arman 2. They'll say it's to grow wrestling but really it's to make a quick buck as they disrespect the sport entirely. It will keep happening.

I can respect the distinction you make. On the other hand, he is in his own way running for something at the same time he is running away from something else he'd just done - in the same way the Cornhuskers seemed to be keen on having him do damage control.

PR was invented by the same guy(s) who developed the model for both advertising and propaganda. In this century alone, there have been two American presidents with significant uptick in marketing acumen: one of their campaigns actually won an advertising award usually reserved for product; the other cut his teeth in reality TV and, wait for it, wrestling (of the kayfabe variety). Both inspired a groundswell of popstar-like support as well as a pretty strong (and often enough irrational) resentment, both of which resemble people going bat-***t crazy seen from afar. For my part I will only say that — although they seem like polar opposites seen through the aforementioned Bernaise-lens — both of these men have something in common (in regard to both word and deed) for which I have zero respect.

I'm not saying AJ is prime for this stage and do not want to project my own sense of what is plausible onto someone else. What I will say is that I see two types of fan whose eyes are brought to folkstyle by way of the antics: those who had watched and those who hadn't. The former were watching for the wrong reasons, I think, and the latter, if they continue to watch, will get bored with anything other than kayfabe-like promotional garbage.
