Reader is apparently leaving coaching altogether. According to Wisconsin Wrestle he is taking a position as VP ofsalesfor the state of Wisconsin with Home Pro Roofing.

I thought Reader was a great coach there. I have heard great things about him . Wisconsin fans chime in!

From Basch

Big news out of Madison. Wisconsin Associate Head Coach Jon Reader is stepping away from wrestling to pursue an opportunity outside the sport. This is a tough loss for the Badgers, Reader has been a cornerstone of that program and one of the most respected, genuine guys in wrestling. The kind of coach athletes gravitate toward and programs are built around. At the same time, nothing but respect for him making this move. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and it sounds like the right move for him and his family. Wishing Jon Reader nothing but success in this next chapter! The wrestling world is better because of guys like him.

In my opinion, Bono need to hit a homerun on this hire, and no disrespect to Cass & Model he can't promote one of them to the lead assistant role, he needs a difference maker.

Bono is not liked among the HS coaches and clubs, need someone that can be that conduit, and lure some kids to Madison.

Make or break hire for Bozo.

Unfortunately, I think this ensures their decline continues.   If they are willing to continue to extend Bono as they have done, i don't see them pony up big bucks to get a splash hire.  Bono will find a warm body, but it won't be on the par of Reader.

Actually I wonder if Burwick would have any interest in the role 😉

🤣 Tristian Moran, Evan Wick, Trent Hilger....the list of disgruntled ex-Bono athletes is long.

The bigger question is, who wants the position?

There better hit a homerun, or they are gonna lose a stud

The only stud they have coming in for 26' is Eli Leonard.

We do get a lot of roof hail damage up here in the upper midwest, so this could be a profitable opportunity for him, and probably less painful than putting up with some of the fair-weather Badger fans.

Once upon a time, there was another wrestler on this board who was a roofer, and if you don't know who I am talking about, I am calling you a liar.

Hidlay to Wisconsin?

I saw Hayden Hidlay post a "goodbye" note to Stanford on IG. He must know where he is headed next.

He'll probably transition into a real sales role well as he's had to sell teenagers and their parents to wrestle for Wisconsin even with Bono as the coach!

Ironically, HPR--at least in Michigan--is comprised of many former wrestlers. Almost all of the Regional Managers are well known in the wrestling community, include "Michigan Grappler" who has a huge territory in SE Michigan.

At least I find it ironic.

Popolizio said today that NC state has a big staff announcement tomorrow. Almost impossible to believe that those aren't related.
