I’ve loved your Cornhuskers the last five years but Minto isn’t one of them I fast forwarded until 1 min left. When Minto still wasn’t doing anything I fast forwarded to 25 seconds and Minto tried to score.

Be grateful ja, Minto just taught you a very important life lesson: don’t wait. And don’t be a victim.

The worst officiated match ive seen!!! Levi did absolutely nothing to get 2 stalls

Minto had the weirdest strategy.  Do absolutely nothing until there were 20 seconds left.  Why not attack in the first 2 periods?

Levi didn't get called for any stalls.

Minto got called for stalling.  Stalling isn't a reward for the offensive guy doing a lot.  It is a penalty called against a guy who won't try to score.  Minto was the definition of stalling in that match.  Perfectly officiated, but awful to watch.

Same strategy of block off and put your back to the circle was implied by a few finalists. By my count at less one won using it maybe more and the rest lost.

Levi got dinged with 13s left.

Who won doing that?

LH and LL both kept butt to center the entire match. Haines attempted to score multiple times. Very nearly did.

LL wrestled MAM at the dual; MAM got stalled out. They both wrestled the same match. Not sure why MAM wasn’t more aggressive.

Vega for one.  Waited until the end and found a counter.

Go watch it again if you are counting that one.  Vega absolutely shot more throughout the match than Mendez did.  He took a bunch of full shots that didn't go anywhere.  Mendez was the one who waited until late.  Everyone obviously stopped shooting on Vega because of what happens when you do.  But he tried his limited offense in every match.  You can say he's limited there, but saying he waited until the end is a failure to watch or understand the match.

Depends what team is on the mat. Aden Valencia would have gotten 4 stall calls if the singlets were reversed. He would not be denied though.

Not saying Mendez was an offensive machine, but Vegas “half shots” were not an attempt to directly score they were an attempt to bait Mendez into a scramble.  To say otherwise is being disingenuous.   Vega was fine looking to counter Mendez action to score and win. That’s counter offense more than aggression to me.  It is best strategy to win, but the pointing he wasn’t the true aggressor he was wait to pounce on an opponents mistake of creating action.

You can call me disingenuous for calling shots shots.  I will call you flat wrong for saying the guy who did more in neutral was the guy waiting.

Call them half shots or whole shots, they were more than the zero shots from Mendez.  The guy who tried to wait for the end in that match got beat.  The guy who attempted more in neutral won.

OK so you say pass on that one.  We still have several matches where the none aggressor waited until late in the match and then lost due to running out of time, which is what I said originally.  Don’t get waiting to come in second.

I agree there was a weird strategy of waiting and then not doing anything after you wait.  Lots of favorites got beat, but the guys who wrestled like underdogs didn't do well.

Woah…are you calling SVN a staller? Or insinuating corruption? Both? Your guy won, how strange

100% agree here.  If anything I hope this tournament encourages guys to not just wait til the end.  I would put McGowan, Minto and maybe Vega in a category where doing that was their best chance, but several guys that didn’t need to do that did it and got burned.

Ventresca

Blaze

Taylor

Lockett

Facundo

Welsh

Angelo

Isaac Dean

AJ maybe wasn’t “burned” by that but I feel like once he got down big he didn’t know what to do because he was used to only needing 1 TD against a good guy

Heck Gabe Arnold seemed to be a little more offensive than usual and it worked for him

None of the above. And it’s not about the result, I am using it as an example. Do I think SVN was stalling? No

Valencia was way more active and forced the issue. My point is if a PSU guy who was the 1 seed wrestled like Valencia did, there would have been stall calls in my opinion. We have gotten to the point (right or wrong) that PSU’s reputation is gaining them the benefit of the doubt so the threshold’s for stalling is different than other teams.

It really goes beyond PSU and applies to certain individuals for other teams too. Some guys are on the refs radar so they are on them before the match even starts. It’s human nature, I just don’t think it’s a great precedent.

Just my opinion based on the weekend.

I honestly don’t get people who watched Vega/Mendez and thought Vega was the one who did nothing all match.

Was he Valencia level aggressive? No but he was absolutely the more aggressive wrestler in his match.

The only way to eliminate human nature is an Ai Referee from Optimus.

Shot tally: ~7 for Vega; ~3 for Mendez. Granted, Vega's shots were immediately and fully defended (in fact, one of Mendez's shots -- the one that proved disastrous -- was a reshot off Vega's). But, how is having his shots fully defended evidence of Vega stalling?
