Did PSU and Oklahoma St both advance all 10 but PSU is in first and the Cowboys in 4th? With an 8 point gap between them? Or are scores not updated from 22.5 to 14.5 that I see?

Bonus points.

I think that’s correct. Bonus points separated PSU from the pack. I expect OkSt to pass Iowa tonight or after session 1 tomorrow.

Round 1

40 Tds for Penn State

1 Td for their opponents (with 2 seconds left at Hwt)

this is a good tournament strategy that other teams should adopt or at least consider

That's one more TD than Cornell gave up (albeit with only five wrestlers).

Big Red look strong - cannot deny that

When your lowest seed is #11, it''s not hard to "look strong" in the first session.  That said, they have the most team points per wrestler entered...behind PSU, of course.

My takeaways from the top 4 after session 1:

PSU — met expectations (which were very high)

Okst — slightly exceeded expectations

Ohio State — slightly disappointed

Iowa — exceeded

Well yeah. Just wanted to verify the scores being accurate and that PSU is already doing the bonus thing they always seem to do to distance themselves from the pack.

#11 Ferrara dodged a bullet. Redding, up 2-1, on top with RT over 1:00, got hit with locked hands at the same time his ankle got borked. Have to rewatch to see how it happened but i think it got trapped under the rolling bodies. He got taped up but had no juice. Ferrara escaped after the restart for the lead then a TD and rideout (of a clearly wincing Redding) for the W.

Everyone else looked great, though Ruiz gave up a leg to Cael Valencia a couple of times without conceding the points. Valencia hit the wall in the third and Ruiz started playing catch and release for the tech.

Valencia is simply not good and Ruiz is #2.... thats why that was the first round matchup  (cake-walk for the top seeds is the idea)

Ferra and Redding in a battle of 2 guys who should not place was rightfully close

Glad you enjoyed the action

For whatever reason, I don't like when people are fans of Kennedy. I loved him when he was a redshirt or a non-starter, just throwing up points on everyone.... but now that he is ranked high and respected....  for whatever reason I hope he loses every match.... I don't know what changed

This sounds like a personal issue

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

It absolutely is.  I personally hope he loses every match, but I think it's fueled by the fans.
Like when you like a band before they go mainstream, then every time you hear their new stuff you're like "this sucks"
Hope Schubert beats him.... and if he wins that ... I hope Kharchla beats him... and if he wins that... come on HAINES....
Genuinely a fan of anyone who wrestles him at this point

We'll see! I don't like his chances against Ayala but I do like his backside draw if he gets the expected path to the blood round - he'd face whoever Forrest beats in the QF.

I do hate it when my favorite band goes mainstream, but I still love Kennedy for sticking it out at Iowa and waiting his turn when he easily could have transferred out.

He's a dog! Just a dog I've turned against. Solid Chappelle Show reference, I have become a fan of yours, hope you destroy everyone on these boards.

What do you like about it?
He loses to Ayala
Then he probably loses to Grice......
but if he beats Grice, he gets Van Dee
If he beats Van Dee, he gets Serrano (who is unreliable but a dog never-the-less)

I don't see anything good about this

well, spladle, it's a hard tournament! nothing comes easy for the 11 seed. Obviously I liked it better before Van Dee lost to Farber but 28-13 is a pretty good path to the 8/9 blood round for the hardware for an 11. Obviously that's chalk but I like Ferrara more than you do to begin with. LGR.

one of the BEST Chappell skits ever. I love the part when Dave tells the guy wearing the fur coat what he thought it was made of. truly lol material

Dog like who you're going to like, no hate here. He's a tough 11 (though its based on Cornell's weaker schedule)...
You just mentioned you liked his backside draw, and it didn't look great to me.

Hope he pulls it out for you, but I think Grice might be his last match, it'll be fun to keep up with him!
