I just watched coach Smith on FRL today. Obviously Hawks was wearing the big brace but I was unaware he too suffered an ACL tear. Probably was obvious, but still. I understand recovery is different from sport to sport, what’s the time frame for a wrestler? @Mhlm did he have surgery, if you don’t mind me asking?

But now we need someone to take the heat off of Starocci. Oh.. wait.. Who's going to be the one to take the heat off of Brooks?
-
So how were Buchanan and Teemer able to just show up at Iowa (and I think guys at other schools did similarly)? Were they all grad students?

The party of law and order elected a president who is a convicted felon, who pardoned 1,000 other convicted criminals who tried to stage an insurrection, and who has ignored court orders. I'd say the moral compass is way off.

I thought the open boarders the last 4 years are what riled up the base. Weird right?

He will be back before August. Potentially under another name due to shame. -
Yeah, I think that just grandfathers in anyone on the current roster who are over the 30-athlete cap. Gabe would get a transfer exemption if Iowa says he was dismissed specifically because of the roster limit and named as a DSA, during which he'd have a small window to switch schools. I believe the DSA exemption would stick with Gabe at his new program, so Iowa would be doing his next school a pretty big favor by giving him Designated status on a 35ish man roster when it makes strategic sense to name other guys on the team.

Now you might be tempted to think that the Illinois coaches of that era had something figured out about OT tactics. But you would be wrong. The other end of the spectrum is poor Griff Powell, Illinois' 157 rep between 2000 and 2002. He went to )T 5 times in those three tournaments and never got his hand raised once. And Powell was no piker. He finished 8th in 2002 after a blood round lose in 2001. -

Lewan was 4-2 in his 6 OT matches, the same winning % as Morningstar (6-3). But with 9 OT matches Morningstar is the King of the "But, Wait. There Is More" Hill. But the real King of the Deep Water was Illinois' John Lockhart. Across the 2001 and 2002 tournaments he went to OT 7 times and he got his hand raised 7 times. -

All of this seems hilarious so they can wrestle in front of less people than at final X or the US Open.

To be fair, the ‘other side’ is well represented here in that same fashion. For every RV and Lobster there’s a blind sheep on the ‘conservative’ side. I agree with you in the reason why Trump is in office, and likewise, the mentality of the MAGA minions is why a doof Biden was voted in office. Fortunately there’s reasonable people on both sides as well, who are able to listen to and at least try and understand a different opinion, they’re just not as loud and attention seeking.

Brooks story: True or False?
BigRedFan replied to Interviewed_at_Weehawken's topic in International Wrestling
Accurate from my perspective. The (internet) expression "<insert person/group> would like a word" has never meant "<person/group> literally takes offense at this particular statement." A stupid example would be if I said "Kyle Dake is the only Cornell wrestler to win four NCAA titles," then someone would come back with "Yianni would like a word" without it meaning that Yianni ever saw me make that statement.
