Kerkvliet on the move
Interviewed_at_Weehawken replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
odd Surprised that either 1) He doesn't want to remain NLWC or 2) They don't really want him. (or both) And he moved from tOSU to train with Snyder... -
UNI will have a solid squad regardless. Not sure they have a Keckeisen type of AA lock on that roster, but 10 guys who could be threats to make blood round.

Good article - https://wildernessdispatch.com/2025/09/15/we-are-remembering-two-different-charlie-kirks/ The ending was particularly good: A man was killed on camera. In broad daylight, with scores of witnesses. The video of his murder was everywhere. No one’s family should have to see that. It shocks the consciences of all decent people that anyone could see such a crime and then go use their online platform to say of the murdered man, “He’s a scumbag.” “He shouldn’t be celebrated.” Surely, we can all agree on that? Can we still agree if I tell you I’m not talking about Charlie Kirk? I’m talking about George Floyd, and the direct quotes of Charlie Kirk about the murdered man—although Kirk never even accepted that Floyd was murdered, despite the conclusions of two separate autopsies and a jury of the murderer’s peers. On the last show he recorded, posted on the same day he died, Kirk addressed the left: “You guys…changed the entire fiber and action of the entire civilization all around a lie because George Floyd overdosed on the side of the street.” A personal note: that shocked me. I gasped aloud when I heard it. Especially after the hours I’ve spent in the past days searching videos and tributes of Charlie Kirk and seeing the side of him his supporters have seen all these years. The kind man, the man who reached out. The good Christian. Contrasted with the callousness of those words, the harshness of his voice, the willful disregard for the truth…they don’t seem like the same man. And so we’re left with these two Charlie Kirks. They both existed. We have the proof. What do we do with this? We can purpose to seek and to see the humanity in those with whom we disagree. For those of us who are believers in Christ, we can remind ourselves, over and over, that every single human being is an image-bearer, loved by God. While we may give bad, ignorant, and immoral ideas no mercy, we can try, always, to remember that the people who espouse them are people, just like us. Imperfect, complicated, and subject to all the weaknesses and biases common to humanity. We can especially try to remain aware that our algorithm fundamentally shapes our understanding of reality, and there may be things we’re missing. We can admire the good aspects of Charlie Kirk and emulate them. We can fairly judge the bad aspects and strive to overcome them in our own lives. Most importantly, we can choose to see one another, even those with whom we vehemently disagree, as human beings, created equal, endowed by our Creator with an unalienable right to life. This fundamental American doctrine is the wide, firm foundation where we can all find common ground.

But it would still be ok to denounce the threats though huh?

Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return," the company’s statement read.

Because The threat had nothing to do with Sinclair cancelling it. It’s an ownership decision most likely based on what their viewers are telling them. See what I did there? I used your strategy

My thoughts on the Greco premier weights. 130 kg: This is Mirz's reign. None of these other 130 kgs are good enough to stop him. If chunky Semenov is the best of the rest in the foreseeable future, then Mirz is the biggest favorite for gold at all the weight classes and the next olympics. I know that 20 something year old who beat Riza is getting hyped, but my eye test does not see him as the next great wrestler and I think Mirz will keep him off teams. 97 kg: Saravi backed up his Olympics with a wold title. I don' think he'll sweep the cycle. I think either someone will emerges or he'll take losses to people he's beaten. Russia's Sargsyan is so undersized, I suppose it's just a testament to Russia's weakness that it's the best they have at 97. Artur keeps finding silly ways of losing. I'm not sure if it's age or he's fried mentally. He's one of the worst at taking losses for sure. 87 kg. Almost 10 wrestlers of roughly the same ability are musical chairsing the titles between themselves. It was Komarov's turn this time. I think Bisultanov is the most talented of the bunch (in that sense he is the spiritual successor of Zhan) but he has a choking gene and I don't see anyone taking over this weight. 77kg: This weight always has parity and extremely close matches. Taking your chances is paramount. Nao did. Akzhol did not. It's a shame since lb for lb I think Akzhol might be the best wrestler without an Olympic gold. He may never get one. 67 kg: This weight has a lot of turnover at the top. Iran has the current champion. Orta is still around but he may be in the Tokyo-Borrero phase of his career. 60 kg: No big names in this weight class. Fumita is not active. Emelin is messing around and losing at 63 kg. No one new has established themselves.

Who? The FCC? FCC does not make profit or losses. ABC/Disney made a business decision to de-escalate the situation to avoid backlash from affiliates. Then they made another about how to get through Kimmel’s contract and sponsor’s advertising buys that have already been committed. No first amendment issues involved.

My guess is Raney will outgrow the weight and spend the next half decade falling technically behind all the people he would be competing against. 60kg to 67kg will be much deeper. 87 kg has about 7 wrestlers who are around the same level that can win gold, and Jacobson is a tier or two below them all. I don't think 87 kg is promising for upset potential. I think Bey is the only one who is close to medalist level. The rest can't do it or would need a freak Coon esque draw.

Drove to Chicago this weekend to take my son to Shedd and the Chicago Children’s Museum… we also hit up the Illinois Beach State Park Super impressed with the children’s museum… This summer we’ve been to roughly 10 of them across the nation and it is probably the second best one (second to Indianapolis)

I wanted Pat Downey vs David Taylor no techs but I'll settle for Varner smashing him to pieces in a virtual match because there is literally no way in the world PD3 shows up. I hope @Husker_Du put some strong clauses in the contract regarding fulfilling 100% of appearance obligations, namely he gets 10% prior to the finish of the match at highest and if it ends in an atypical fashion such as injury default that he gets minmal. You can refer to the Jose Canseco boxing match a couple years ago if there are any AWLs in the audience.
