The fall visit season continued to roll along as it officially became fall. Compared to prior weeks, there were many fewer recruits on the road as many participated in the Elite 8 Duals. Even so, there were plenty who traveled the country in search of a new home. One of the things that makes following recruiting fun is the cloak-and-dagger secrecy surrounding parts of the process. For every Bo Bassett who routinely keeps the public informed on recruiting decisions, there are plenty of others who don’t discuss it as much. Therefore, it can be difficult to follow which recruit is interested in which school and vice versa. I suppose it’s fun, but you’re left wanting more! In order to try and help our fanbase feel more knowledgeable about the process, we’ll have a weekly column that recaps the recruiting weekend. Who has visited where? Maybe some background information on the recruits or the process from the school. Here’s are the previous articles: The weekend of August 23rd The weekend of August 30th The weekend of September 6 Last week's article Air Force #117 Matt Orbeta (Poway, CA) NR Bailey Holman (Poway, CA) NR Bryce Palmer (Smithson Valley, TX) - Class of 2026 NR Miller Sipes (Staley, MO) - Class of 2026 NR Landon Thomas (Valiant Prep, AZ) - Class of 2026 NR Kawayran Vazquez (Tampa Jesuit, FL) We haven’t reported much from Air Force yet this cycle, so it’s good to see them in the mix this week. The Air Force staff had a trio of seniors in town, two of whom had already given verbal commitments (Bryce Palmer/Landon Thomas). From the 2027 class, we have Poway teammates Matt Orbeta and Bailey Holman. The pair has traveled together to Army and Brown. This was the first visit we have on file for Kawayran Vazquez, who has been ranked in the Class of 2027 previously. Vazquez is a two-time Florida runner-up and a Puerto Rican U17 World Team member. Army West Point #83 Carson Neubert (Luxemburg-Casco, WI) #107 Wyatt Fry (Wyoming Seminary, PA) #138 Anthony Ryan (Longwood, NY) NR Ashton Haley (Cobleskill-Richmondville, NY) NR Marcus Heck (Wyoming Seminary, PA) NR Pasquale Maurici (Austin Westlake, TX) - Class of 2026 NR Landyn Shaffer (Deposit-Hancock, NY) It was another large group in West Point over the weekend. One of the visitors was senior Pasquale Maurici, who gave a verbal commitment shortly after his visit. The rest of the crew consisted of juniors, two of which are Big Boarders. The group was heavy on in-state talent with three of the state being New Yorkers. Anthony Ryan and Landyn Shaffer were both third at the state tournament 2025, while Ashton Haley made the DII finals. Carson Neubert is the highest-ranked of the bunch and is coming off an NHSCA Sophomore title and a seventh-place 16U Greco showing in Fargo. The only wrestler in this group that we’ve seen on previous recruiting updates is Wyatt Fry, who visited Virginia last month. Brown #59 Eli Esguerra (Dublin Coffman, OH) NR Frankie Pieffer (St. Edward, OH) NR Blaze Van Gundy (Dublin Coffman, OH) This group isn’t as large as others that have visited Providence this cycle, but it is quite noteworthy. Top 100 recruit Eli Esguerra has placed four times in Fargo, three of which came in Greco. Esguerra was third at Ohio’s DI tournament in 2025, his high school teammate, Blaze Van Gundy, was a qualifier. The other member of this crew is Frankie Pieffer, who took fourth in the state at 165 lbs as a sophomore. He matched that same placement in 16U freestyle in Fargo. Remember, Brown assistant coach is from St. Ed’s, so we could see that connection pay off with Pieffer or the other Ohio recruits. Clarion #106 Caleb Tyler (Delone Catholic, PA) NR Brayden Andrews (Southern Colombia, PA) - Class of 2026 NR Justin Cosover (Easton, PA) NR Brody Musser (Ephrata, PA) Clarion’s staff continued to hit the recruiting trail hard. They were more focused on the junior class this weekend and brought in Big Boarder, Caleb Tyler. Tyler is still looking to place at the PA AA state tournament, but has finished top-three twice in the NHSCA grade level tournament. Andrews, Cosover, and Musser were all state qualifiers in 2025 and are seeking their first state medals. George Mason NR Drew Roggie (St. Christopher’s, VA) - Class of 2026 George Mason already has an impressive Class of 2026, but is still looking to improve it as they had Drew Roggie on campus. Roggie is a three-time private school state champion in Virginia. He is a two-time National Prep All-American, finishing seventh as a sophomore and sixth as a freshman. Roggie’s older brother, Cale, is already a member of the Patriot squad. Lock Haven NR Nico Kapusta (Hempfield Area, PA) - Class of 2026 Lock Haven hosted two-time Pennsylvania state qualifier Nico Kapusta over the weekend. Kapusta has qualified for the AAA state tournament at 107 and 114 lbs during his high school career. Lock Haven might have the inside track on Nico, as they already have one Kapusta on the roster - projected starter Lucas at 149 lbs. NC State #26 Tanner Hodgins (Howell, NJ) NC State continues to bring in top talent to visit Raleigh this cycle. Could there be a better time for the staff to host an elite upperweight? Less than a week after Trent Hidlay won a 92 kg world title? Tanner Hodgins likely has similar aspirations, as he earned a bronze medal, at that same weight class, this year at the U17 World Championships. Hodgins has already visited Arizona State this fall. Nebraska #11 Clinton Shepherd (Crown Point, IN) #50 Gavin Landers (Denver, IA) There’s a lot of momentum going Nebraska’s way after a second-place finish at nationals, the addition of AJ Ferrari, and recent recruiting visits by Bo Bassett and Melvin Miller. Last weekend, saw more talent on campus as top 50 recruits Clinton Shepherd and Gavin Landers were in Lincoln. Shepherd was a Junior national freestyle runner-up in Fargo, a year after he won the 16U title. Landers was a double 16U Fargo AA in 2023 and broke the top eight at the UWW U17 Trials in 2024. Shepherd has already taken a visit to Ohio State. Landers was at Northern Iowa last weekend. North Dakota State #82 Gage Spurgeon (Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, IA) The Bison get into the mix with the Class of 2027 as they hosted a top 100 recruit in Gage Spurgeon. Spurgeon was an Iowa 2A state champion as a freshman and fourth in the state as a sophomore. Last summer, Spurgeon earned All-American honors in Fargo, taking seventh in Greco. Northern Colorado NR Robert Kendall (Windsor, CO) - Class of 2026 NR Mason Koehler (Glenwood, IA) - Class of 2026 NR Camden Williams (Whiteland, IN) The new staff at Northern Colorado is getting at it with a trio of recruits in Greeley. Camden Williams was the lone junior in the group. He didn’t make the Indiana state tournament as a sophomore, but did go out to Fargo and took sixth in 16U freestyle at 215 lbs. Looking for immediate help from the senior class, Robert Kendall and Mason Koehler are both returning state champions. Kendall from Colorado and Koehler in Iowa. Northern Iowa #42 Mac Crosson (Indianola, IA) #92 Nolan Fellers (Bondurant-Farrar, IA) - Class of 2026 NR Brady Collins (East Troy, WI) - Class of 2026 NR Vince Jasinski (Fox Lake Grant, IL) - Class of 2026 The UNI staff is still looking to finalize their Class of 2026 and had a trio of seniors in town, with Big Boarder Nolan Fellers, along with Brady Collins, and Vince Jasinski. Fellers is a three-time Fargo All-American. Collins’ star is rising after a sixth-place finish in Junior freestyle this summer in Fargo. Jasinski did as well. He was third in Illinois last year, but a Junior freestyle AA. Looking at the Class of 2027, Northern Iowa got to host one of the state’s best juniors, Mac Crosson. Crosson was an Iowa 3A champion this year after taking third as a freshman, despite moving up four weight classes. We’ve already mentioned Crosson’s visits to Oklahoma and South Dakota State. Penn #19 Gabe Logan (Delbarton, NJ) #22 Gabe Ballard (Northampton, PA) #28 Cam Sontz (Delbarton, NJ) #81 Emilio Albanese (Emmaus, PA) #86 Jimmy Bechter (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) - Class of 2026 There was a surprising name on Penn’s recruiting list as they hosted senior heavyweight Jimmy Bechter. Bechter had verbally committed to Stanford, but that was called into question after a visit to Philly. Before committing to Stanford, Bechter took visits to Brown, Northwestern, and Virginia last fall. Moving on to the Class of 2027, the Quaker staff had some high-quality recruits in town. Four in the top 100 and three of the top 30. Two Delbarton teammates, Gabe Logan and Cam Sontz. Both are Fargo freestyle finalists, Logan at the 16U level and Sontz as a Junior. The other two recruits are from Pennsylvania’s fabled District XI. Both, Gabe Ballard and Emilio Albanese, are Fargo AA’s and top-three finishers in PA’s AAA classification. This is the second visit on record for Albanese. He was at Bucknell last weekend. Ballard has already taken a visit to Princeton. Sontz has been busy with prior visits to Cornell, North Carolina, and Princeton. Logan has gone to Arizona State and Virginia Tech this fall Princeton #53 Grayson Fuchs (Detroit Central Catholic, MI) #62 Noah Tucker (Bullis School, MD) #89 Evan Stanley (Lowell, IN) #126 Jackson Weller (Delran, NJ) NR Ryan Gavrish (St. John Vianney, NJ) NR August Moser (Delbarton, NJ) It was a big recruiting weekend for Princeton, who had three top 100 recruits and four Big Boarders in town. Fargo 16U freestyle AA Grayson Fuchs is the highest-ranked of the bunch. There’s also Noah Tucker, who was third at the NHSCA grade level tournament after both years of high school, thus far. Speaking of NHSCA’s, Evan Stanley won it as a freshman. The rest of the potential class is from New Jersey and at schools that Princeton has hit repeatedly in the past. Two weeks ago, we saw Fuchs travel to Iowa State. This is the first visit we’ve seen from Tucker and August Moser. Evan Stanley has already been to Brown and Indiana. Jackson Weller has an obvious Ivy lean with visits to Cornell and Penn already on his schedule. Ryan Gavrish took a visit to Lock Haven last month. Rutgers #2 Joe Bachmann (Faith Christian Academy, PA) #12 Paul Kenny (Christian Brothers Academy, NJ) #31 Lukas Zalota (Malvern Prep, PA) #40 Justin Farnsworth (Malvern Prep, PA) A Thursday night football game was the perfect setting for an impressive group that visited the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers has recruited well in Pennsylvania, of late, and they’re looking to build off of that with a visit from #2 Joe Bachmann and Malvern Prep teammates Lukas Zalota and Justin Farnsworth. Bachmann is a two-time Ironman champion, among other accolades. Bachmann, combined with Paul Kenny, makes it a pair of U17 medalists considering Rutgers. Farnsworth and Zalota are both National Prep placers. Farnsworth was a runner-up in 2025 and Zalota was sixth as a freshman, at 175 lbs. Bachmann has been busy with the visits. He’s already visited Cornell, Iowa State, Missouri, and Ohio State. Virginia Tech is the only prior visit for Kenny. Zalota also visited Virginia Tech, along with Army West Point, and Indiana. Farnsworth’s only other visit on record was at Bucknell. Virginia #108 Jaelen Culp (Indian Land, SC) Virginia is trying to nab a late-rising prospect in South Carolina’s Jaelen Culp. Culp was sixth at NHSCA’s as a sophomore and a finalist as a junior. Culp took visits to Appalachian State and Davidson last spring. This fall, he’s toured West Virginia and DII power Lander. Wyoming NR Blake Bartos (Medina Buckeye, OH) - Class of 2026 NR Tanner Telford (Corner Canyon, UT) The Wyoming staff is always good at finding overlooked gems. Maybe they’re at it again with a pair of prospects who are currently unranked. Blake Bartos is a senior who has made two Ohio D2 state finals. He won a title in 2024 and was a runner-up earlier this year. Bartos took visits to Maryland and Appalachian State earlier this month. Tanner Telford is a Utah state runner-up. He’s already visited the DI program in his home state, Utah Valley.
