  1. Past hour
  2. It's a shame no one realizes the Championship Wrestling Association is having another event tonight. Folkstyle after college. Youtube it because the previous events had entertaining matches. 130lbs. Guesseppe Rea (NJ Mob) vs. Brian Courtney (Central PA Whitetails) 160lbs. Reece Humphrey (NJ Mob) vs. Sammy Alvarez (NYC Response) 170lbs. Quincy Monday (NJ Mob) vs. Jesse Dellavecchia (NYC Response) 195 lbs. CJ Brucki (NJ Mob) vs. Scott Joll (Pittsburgh Skywalkers)
  3. Are all three Chamberlains going to Malvern, or just Mason? they are always moving around. Brian got kicked out of Malvern from what I have heard, so I would be surprised if he went back. Don't think there is any bad blood between the family and Malvern though, since Jack stayed there after Brian had left. Are all the Bacon's leaving SEM? or just Asher going to FCA?
  4. Some of them made an argument I’ll paraphrase. If you’re not part of the gangs. If you’re not a dope dealer getting caught up in inner city crime is statistically low/impossible. When I posted a series of innocent kids or old ladies or what not getting killed in Chicago they poo poo’ed it. I posted a stat (I’m not looking it up again). There were something like 2,300 gang murders in Chicago over a 2-3 year period…. That was poo poo’ed by some of the posters here too. Somehow they just think there isn’t excessive violence and crime in big blue cities across the nation. edit: it was 2300 shootings by July of 2024 I think
  5. Soooo... get your Zzzzz's in early, & join yours truly @ 3am Sunday morning (ohmygawd) to watch how our young-uns do in advancing. D3
  6. Ben Heizer
  7. Wrestling will start tomorrow morning @ 3am (ah, yep... at 3 #@$&$!am in the morning!) We're starting off w/70, 74, 97, & 125Kg wt. classes first. They're splitting the qualifier rnd w/ 4 wt. classes each day until the last two wts (61 & 86Kg) on Tuesday... finishing off w/ the last medal round on Wednesday. D3
  8. I watched a clip where a stats guy, claims to be bipartisan, talked about the "stats" coming out about DC. He said the overall violent crime rate isn't always a good one to assess crime in a city, but rather just use murders as those you really can't manipulate because there is a dead body. All the other statistics that go into the violent crime rate is routinely under-reported, and/or there is a change as to how they are classified year over year and sometimes month over month. So looking at just murder rate in DC as of August 15, 2025 there were 113 at this same time last year versus 101 for this year. Maybe it is just me but if I am living in DC I wouldn't be feeling like "Yay...our city is safe again!" Again I ask, why are people so against trying to make a city more safe?? I don't understand the logic. Looking at this overall I feel bad for the DC police force as they clearly were not able to do their job...as it appears the police chief is completely incompetent along with the mayor...to me they are the ones who caused the need for the national guard to show up...and I am 100% okay with it. Hopefully, there is change at the top and the DC police force can finally do their job once the national guard leaves.
  9. If Dee wins, we will cumulatively all have to agree that "he is him" is a true statement. I haven't been willing to, but were he to do that, I think he us a comfortable Tier 3 in NCAAs (nobody is Tier 2 and Monster Mitch is Tier 1), with Caliendo, Blaze, etc.
  10. I like Stanich getting Toprak off the scales rather than semi-finals. I know a loss in the semis guarantees a medal match, but he has a better chance to gas Toprak out off the scales.
  11. 7 out of 10 USA entries are all in the upper brackets... not that it mean anything here (depending who IS in that side of the bracket, along with our guys.) D3
  12. Man I love being retired and freeloading off myself.
  13. I wrestled some good ones, but he was honestly one of the most technical guys I had ever wrestled. Calm, never emotional, just tough and solid. Tuttle kid, and there was a big group that came through there that was tough as hell. Trent Londen, Head brothers, on and on. Back in the day, the Oklahoma open was THE tournament to go to. Open, and everyone went to it. I to this day LOVE Thanksgiving because of the food, back then I never got to eat it cuz I was cutting weight. I was pretty good, and held my own, but not the Schmidt level. Wrestled him a few times, worst was 4-5 best was by 2. No moral victories, but now that I am old, damn right I believe in moral victories...lol
  14. Today
  15. That was the Okie way! That is why Kurdelmeier got out the monster mat. I do think that FILA changed the rules to hinder the American style. There are countless stories of fraud and corruption at the international tournaments. Before the internet, they weren't even very shy about it either.
  16. Thanks! Those mid 90s OSU teams were the stuff of legends. I was a little kid in the stands every week just in absolute awe. It’s too bad there aren’t more recordings. Weigel of course was later and battled injuries but when he was healthy he was a tank. You wrestled Schmidt? Have you recovered? Haha jk would love to hear more about your wrestling experience in general. The board benefits from hearing from athletes.
  17. You should look up video of a dude nicknamed "Geno" from the backwoods of Georgia. Super thick accent can't understand anything he says because it doesn't even sound like English. Anyways he was at a random tournament in Paris last summer and pops up in random places like Tokyo and Belgrade and sometimes even Las Vegas. Very similar style to what you are describing!
  18. 57 kg 61 kg 65 kg 70 kg 74 kg 79 kg 86 kg 92 kg 97 kg 125 kg
  19. That's just to make the semis!
  20. I am always amazed at how very very fortunate people are who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Just right place at the right time - for 60 straight years! Where does anyone get off being so lucky? Same for hard working people who have above average intellect, resilience, character, tolerance for risk, etc. Just lucky. And all of the other people who were in the same place at the same time - just bad luck. I had a computer in 1992. Bezos was just luckier than I was. Otherwise, one turn of the roulette wheel and we trade places. "There but for the grace of God" helps me deal with child leukemia. But career or relationship or other adult lifetime outcomes? Almost never luck.
  21. Worst draws are probably Dee's and stanich Stanich gets Toprak right off the scale which is likely the second toughest guy at his weight will be a huge test for Stanich Dee has to go through all the guys just to make the finals Novuruzov,Khaniev,Wagin Henckel got an incredible draw. Youseffi,Begenjov,Saidulov on the other side. He does have amit on his side but I think that is the most winnable match for him of the big 3. Knox gets ukraine which should not be an issue but then he gets Atainov who was Asian Silver and I think is quite tough. If he gets past him he will likely have Zangaladze. Not a good draw but he is opposite Sakamoto and Baghirov which I think is good for him. https://uww.org/event/u20-world-championships-0/brackets
  22. Are you 9 feet tall? Also if you drive a truck and don't notice the tires you may be a moron.
  23. This must be a consequence of actions in 1619 and those 125 cars (and their owners) deserved it. The poor oppressed peeps were just trying to buy bread for their starving children anyway and those 125 oppressors did not give away enough money to provide bologna sandwiches. Elections have consequences.
  24. Are you sure about that. I knew some Ukrainians through work, and the stories are pretty crazy. 2 weeks wage will fill a gas tank. Ironically the people I have talked with wanted to rejoin Russia before the war. Also lots of corruption.
  25. I find the discussion of the use of hyperbole much more interesting than the poll - which is unanswerable. It is the same as asking, "is fiction just lying?" Of course all fiction is lying in the strictest sense of the word. Aesop's fables are all lies. Whether the writer and reader agree ahead of time to allow the lying does not negate the fact that it is lying. Telling your 90 year old mother she looks great is hyperbole and lying unless you add .". . . compared to all the dead 90 year olds (very weird wording in retrospect) and how you looked the day you got out of surgery and compared to how I expected you to look today". All of that "truth" is not helpful but required to say to be the most perfectly honest person. A much more interesting question is when does hyperbole destroy your own credibility? Now, on the Rep/Dem take by AI - I found it interesting although I think AI is not counting the leftie hyperbolic tendency to call anyone who disagrees with them Hitler, Nazis, Fascists, Phobics, Ists, etc. This is hyperbole. Does it help make the lefties' point and change the behavior of the person they are hyperbolicly describing? No. It simply demonizes, entrenches positions, and is a lie when used for this purpose. My take is that hyperbole can be a useful shortcut to make a point or argument but it must be used gently if you intend to reach a mutually agreeable (or equally mildly distasteful but at least acceptable) conclusion/negotiation, etc. If used for this purpose it is not a lie. Conclusion - intent and degree matter.
  26. I don't understand the question
