    No probably. It is 100% an illegal slam because of the trap arm.

    I think it depends on the kid. No HS kid has wrestled more than Bassett, Forrest, Knox, Seidel, Raneys, etc. and they don't seem to be HEW.

    No doubt. But Cael's teams have been able to win titles, despite his 5th-7th year guys underperforming their last years. That's the difference between the two situations.

    I think this is more likely the case. And Iowa just happens to have built their recent teams off those kind of guys. Which was kind of my point.

    Yea you're right about that. I'm not denying it. But Cael isn't on the hot seat, while Brands is on the hot seat by HIS OWN FANS. If you're an Iowa fan and don't want Brands gone I'm sorry for getting you worked up. I have no dog in the fight. I'm an Okie State fan. I am just friends with some Hawk fans who are ready to see Brands go for the reasons I said.

    He was #35 on @Husker_Du's 2023 Big Board. I would not consider that a 'top-level' recruit. A good/great recruit? Absolutely. Top-level? No. To me, top-level is top 15-20ish. If your definition is different than that then there ya go.

    No offense to Cannon, but he was not ever a 'top-level' recruit.

    So Woods got worse from junior to senior season though no? By the metric we're using. Starocci won a title on a blown knee. Same with Spencer. So the 'blew his knee out' excuse is played out in my opinion. Eierman finished 2nd at B1Gs and was the 2 seed at NCAAs. We can't pick and choose when results count. If you take the mat, you're good to go. I stand corrected on Desanto. I give you that one.

    These three all finished lower their senior years than junior years. I am not sure on Lugo. Too lazy to look. Caliendo's story is still being written.

    Agree with this. I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back. tOSU fans seems to be unhappy with their top-level recruits (which they are getting) under developing and underperforming. Jesse Mendez is the only top level recruit you can point to and say 'He has gotten a lot better there.'

    Not a Hawkeye fan in the slightest. But I'd be ok with Drake winning. Seems like a nice kid.

    I did not say Spencer gave up weight. Obviously they were same weight, hence the fact that they had WEIGH-INS. That's how wrestling works. What I said was that Spencer was smaller of the two because he WENT UP IN WEIGHT, which is factual.

    No, but Ono overwhelms and overpowers everyone he wrestles. It's his thing. So the fact that Spencer, who is the smaller of the two and went up in weight, only gave up 3 pushouts, I'd say that's pretty impressive.

    It's about the grind of the D1 season. Which is why match counts nowadays have been cut by nearly 1/3, because the grind of a D1 season is FREAKING HARD. Beating a D1 champ in a one-off match, although would be very impressive, it still wouldn't be a 100% accurate representation of if he's ready to win a title.

    Bo would not ready to win an NCAA title one year from now. But he's only a junior in HS, and I doubt whether he'll be ready to win one two years from now even.
