Marsteller was a major one, as I remember. 4-time undefeated out of PA. I still wonder (especially with his later success) how his career may have gone differently not being at OSU. The Alton brothers were big names, as was Metcalf and Nickerson. Close to home for me, and was a BIG deal out of the Missouri wrestling scene at the time, was TJ Hill. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2000-mar-16-sp-9420-story.html

Has Coleman Scott found a new job yet?
The_KC_Godfather replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
So Coleman just picked up his family and moved to Stillwater from NC; family is there, they want to lay down roots. I assume he's financially secure from UNC and OSU, Central Oklahoma (the nearest school) already has a solid HC. Kish was recently hired at OU...maybe a 1.5-2hr drive; doubt they plug him there. My guess is he takes over a local HS program (hopefully not Stillwater HS...Ethan was his college teammate and has it down...PS...Ethan was my HS teammate, and I know how fantastic he is, so a little biased here, but I'm not wrong). I pray Coleman doesn't hang it up at the college level. -
I wonder if DT will get Hamiti over the hump to finish strong. Man did he look good against MM until the comeback.

The insight and wisdom of Pyles on display…
The_KC_Godfather replied to The_KC_Godfather's topic in College Wrestling
Good point. And maybe the indication was “come back as AHC and show us you should get the job”. He likely thought the same as I did…”If I’m there and show I can improve the team, they have to hire me, right?”. Still a big gamble. But the DarkEnergy’s point, there may have been other factors for him leaving UNC (ie. Personal reasons). -

If he’s not completely crazy, there had to have been. Anybody that would take that gamble with a huge move for their family and a D1 coaching position on the line, without some sort of guarantee, would be nuts. My guess is that OSU had every intention of making Coleman the next HC and made some sort of guarantee. Then, DT didn’t make the Olympic team, so they thought “Hey, we’ll throw the barn at DT and pay off CS to make it all go away and move forward with the only person who can compete with Cael.” Shady af, but I guess business is business. My opinion, anyway… -
Gilman, Kennedy, Cox. Penn State killer there…

Touché, at least from me (re: the assumption of a presumptive heir). I went off of the info at the time, but I can admit when I’m wrong. Damn do I feel bad for Coleman, though… -
Olympic bronze. World Champ. Gilman might be a goofball, but not sure you’ll find someone better for the lower weights. Also seems like he’s over the IowaStyle brainwash now that he’s matured. Add J’Den Cox to the mix, and Cael is in trouble after a couple of recruiting cycles. I love Mizzou, but I haven’t been this pumped for college wrestling in a long time. Make the team race great again, DT!!

To be honest, I didn’t think there would be a chance of a DT or JB being available when I made that post. I would consider those two to be the exception. And to be fair, I don’t think many people thought that Taylor would not be an Olympian right now, at least when this post was made. i never really troll but can admit that the post I made was a bit trolly. And the reason I made it was because I was frustrated at the clickbait. As someone said, CP loves to talk about wrestling and is considered an expert, so when he posts a video indicating that he has some inside news, when he actually doesn’t, was very frustrating, and what I call clickbait. if we look at the details at the time, Coleman Scott (an Oly bronze medalist) uprooted his family and left a D1 head coaching job (at a program he’s put a lot into building) to take an assistant job. OSU had to have given a pretty strong indication to him that he’d be the next HC, otherwise, he’s much more of a gambler than I’ll ever be. To suggest, at the time, that anyone else (who was available) would be considered seemed asinine, at least to me. At least, if OSU was honest and kept whatever word they gave to Scott. Had DT or JB been available at the time of this video, I wouldn’t have been so bold. So, a combo of frustration with the clickbait and the odds at the time, I think what I said was fair and reasonable. Would it be a sh***y thing for OSU to hire DT if they promised Coleman something? Yes. Should they pass up an opportunity with DT? No. Again, this assumes they promised Scott something. They’ll have to throw some money at him. -
Time for the all-star meet to move toward an MMA-style “card”

The only thing I want to see from the all star meet is KOT vs. Messybrink! -
Fixed.

The early passivity point against DT was BS. I never want to be one of those guys, but if we’re being honest, come on. Not sure Brooks took a single shot in the match…it was all counters. Brooks is amazing, don’t get me wrong, and I think he’ll represent the US well. Maybe I’m a homer, because I love God too…but still upset because DT was my guy. Felt like Brooks played defense the entire time.

Your arrogance, or at least perceived arrogance based on your writing style, and my impression of Pyles based on his video about predicting the next HC of OSU (which tells me that he believes people need to hear the obvious from him...again, arrogance), made me believe that you are him. If not, my sincerest apologies for my incorrect thinking. To be honest, it's funny that you think my level of confidence needs the review of your posts to be sufficient; definitely showing your arrogance with that statement. But it's all good. Some people need that to get them through life. If it makes you feel better to think that I need to read your commentary to somehow keep me going each day, please feel free to take that. Sure, my title of the thread can be perceived as an attack on Pyles. As I said, when I posted this, I was bothered that a company that I have respect for and perceived to have superior/inside knowledge (part of the reason we pay their annual fee to subscribe) tricked me into watching something that was completely obvious to 99.9% of the wrestling community...yes, I was frustrated. That tells me that they are after clickbait and I have no reason to watch their "show" content going forward. Sad, because I'm sure that their content could be decent. But things like this are not good business practice if you want people to respect you and click on your content. -

Not to be a jerk at all, because I’m not, but, at least admit that you’re CP. No need to hide behind a username on the internet. It’s ok to say who you are and back up what you say. Nobody is going to lose respect for you…in fact, I have more respect for you if you don’t hide behind a username. Also, arrogance isn’t becoming. If that’s how you want to roll, that’s ok, but the “chuckle” is just douchey. Maybe that’s a California thing…idk…but for those of us that grew up in the MidWest/South and learned how to have a respectful conversation with people, that isn’t really something that promotes conversation. It just leads to arguments. You’re not any better than anyone here…no reason to attack. I wasn’t attacking in my OP…I was trying to generate conversation. P.S. If you are CP, you asked for feedback at the end of the video in question. Here’s the feedback. -

I think the difference between you and I is that I haven’t realized (until now) that his talking head content isn’t very informative. Honestly, my only reason for ever purchasing Flo and keeping an active subscriptions is to 1) watch live content and 2) watch Flo Films. I rarely, rarely watch any of the shows or discussions these guys have. So, I would say that I don’t “hate” CP, because frankly I have seen very little of his stuff. I think what peeved me about this video is that I thought he had some inside info (which one may assume that if anyone has inside info, it would be a big outlet like Flo), when, come to find out, he didn’t. So, I wasted 12 minutes thinking I was getting something more than the obvious. But, we all know what assuming does, so it’s my fault for the wasted time. -

Hi, CP. No sh*t, Sherlock…that there is no question Coleman is the next HC. Why create a video titled “CP predicts the next head coach of Oklahoma State” as if there is any question as to who the next HC will be? I’ll tell you why…for clicks. I thought maybe you/Flo had some inside info that would be a reason to question the obvious, but nope…just clickbait. -
Have you seen CP’s latest video where he predicts the next HC of OSU? Genius content. Joking aside, he suggests OSU should reach out to Pat Pop, Pendleton, Branch, etc. What?! Why would anybody think they’d even consider someone besides Coleman?? Clearly there was an agreement in place, that he had to be comfortable with, for him to give up his job at NC and move his family. After 11 minutes of rambling, he finally “predicts” that Coleman will be the guy. Then, he goes on to suggest that Coleman will need to backfill the role he just had (associate HC) and suggests he go after Neil Erisman. First, that role was created for Coleman…not really a reason to backfill it. Second, Erisman is killing it at Little Rock…why would he want to leave a head coaching position for an Associate HC position at a school that now has a long term answer at HC? To be a career assistant and not be a head coach?? I’m usually impartial to CP’s videos, but this one made me laugh and really stood out as a “no sh*t, Sherlock” video.

I don’t disagree. Just surprising to see people leaving in general as you typically hear a lot of hype around tigerstyle and that being the reason kids go there and stay.
-
Something is definitely up. The team shutting down/under performing the way they did the back half of the season. NOW I just saw on Flo that Mizzou has 4 wrestlers in the transfer portal?! I can’t remember the last time there was more than one guy leaving (Eieirman, Miklus are the last to come to mind). What’s going on? Not necessarily starters and maybe they’re just looking for a school they can start for, but Shepherd and Boersma are kind of surprising names on the list.
-
Better yet, Hamiti to Mizzou to have a practice partner in Keegan. Bump Keegan to 174, or drop Hamiti to 157. Either way...win win.

What is HEW?

I don’t know much about how the current assistant/associate head coaches do things, but it feels like ever since Clemsen and Sammie Henson left, the intensity has not been there. If you watch the All Access Mizzou Flo film, you can see the difference in intensity and fight. Seemed like there was an expectation, and the wrestlers “wanted” to be there. Love the team but honestly both Elam’s looked like they didn’t want to be there at all. Seems like we need a high intensity “hype’r” to get the guys pumped.

I’m guessing Garozzo’s. Owner grew up on the hill in St. Louis, which has the best Italian food in the US west of Jersey…
