  1. Haha...funny. If every thread on this forum about AJ didn't get hijacked and add multiple posts about nonsense, I wouldn't have posted to ask about what's actually going on. Cool if you want to partake in the chatter, and talk s*** about someone that truly wants to know what's going on. Apologies to you and others for actually giving a s***.
  2. Seriously. No noise from the trolls. Is he enrolled at Iowa? If not, done. If so, does he still have time to qualify for NCAA's?
  3. St. Louis Style Spare Ribs are pork, not beef (brisket is beef). What I think you mean is that STL style ribs have the skirt and rib tips cut off, where the spare ribs aren't trimmed at all. I say this all in a joking manner, so don't take it bad, but...I wouldn't take advice on TX BBQ vs. KC BBQ from someone who says there's brisket on ribs TX BBQ is good, and there are some places that are REALLY good (brisket only), but KC BBQ overall is far superior. But it's all what you like...really smoky, salt and pepper? Texas. Sweet and Spicy with just the right amount of smoke, and more flavor than salt and pepper? Kansas City.
  4. St. Louis...the only legitimate BBQ joints (IMO) are Bogarts and Sugar Fire. KC is far superior with Q39, SLAP's, LC's, Jack Stack, etc. And this is coming from someone who grew up and lived in STL for 25 years and has lived in KC for the past 5. The only person that calls it the Lou is Nelly Pizza? STL pizza is an acquired taste with provel cheese, but I think they are far superior to KC...STL has Pirrone's, Stefanina's, Imo's, Cecil Whitakers....KC doesn't have anything really (maybe Minsky's and Waldo, but waldo is STL style pizza).
  5. Is Rocky coming off an injury? Sounds like he was dominant most of the match, and I see Novak is ranked #21, but I would think he would have put up bonus with his resume. Completely understandable if he is just coming back from an injury, and we are a long way from March, but thought he would have pushed the pace to major. As I've said before on here, I think one thing that separates PSU from other programs (like Mizzou), is that their guys push for bonus constantly. For Mizzou to get a trophy, our veterans like Mauller, KOT, Mocco, Elam and Elam need to push when they're tired. KOT always does, but if we want to be in trophy contention, we need a team effort in the later part of the season...
  6. Are you ever not passive-aggressive? Have a conversation, man, without getting so defensive. The point of a message board is to discuss thoughts...no need to act like people are stupid (e.g., "Not hard to understand") because they want to talk about their thoughts.
  7. Did Seltzer really get tech'd in the first round by Minnesota's backup at the Cougar Clash today? And then got major'd by Little Rock? Not going to talk bad about a college kid, but, I thought he was projected to be an AA early in his career....? What is going on?? Also, being straight up, I didn't think Mizzou played the game of ducking to save future seeds. Rocky wasn't available last night against OU (#2 Buchanan), but he wrestled today? Before Mizzou even forfeited 197 last night against OU...and this was on Flo at the beginning of the dual...Cassatt was listed for Mizzou at 197. As much as I love rooting for the Tigers, that is ducking competition. Shame on Mizzou.
  8. It's a better career choice because of the money. He probably makes more in a couple of months than he would lifetime as a freestyle wrestler. And that's his passion. Who are any of us to say what he should or shouldn't do in his career?
  9. Just my opinion. I would think because Hawks made it to R16 at NCAA's...
  10. As a KC guy, I don't like to say it, but Kal stalled his butt off (which surprises me, because that's not his style). Doesn't mean that Edmonds shouldn't have displayed more, but the lack of stalling calls in that match was ridiculous. Miller didn't do anything until OT and Clemson knew it. Hawks is the starter regardless of this match. He is a world level athlete but loses silly ones like this...doesn't make sense. Neither does Seltzer, Edmonds of Mocco losing. Can't explain it. But, it'll all work itself out by the end of the season...
  11. Great points and what I was looking for when I posted. I hadn’t thought about it that way and agree with you (other than that we had 5 AA’s instead of 4 ) I am really curious to see how both Seltzer and Edmond do this next year. I feel like Surtin is right there for a podium finish if he can just peak at the right time, and hopefully Mauller can make the third or even fifth place match to get a few more points than this last year. The interview where he said something like “if I get to my offense nobody can stop me”…hopefully he turns that on this year and he’ll get there. If we can push for bonus, we’re definitely a trophy team.
  12. “If he’s able” = That’s what I believe? Fun discussion board.
  13. Did you see him wrestle Nolf at the US Open? Think he's beating Dake? I know Keegan wants to be an Olympian, but I don't think this is the cycle where he's doing it. My post was to generate a discussion on the best team Mizzou could put on the mat. IF KOT was able to get to 157 (6lbs less than he wrestled at the US Open), he could potentially dominate the field and have no challengers on the way to another title. If Mocco could drop as well, it helps the log jam at 184 (somebody said Harman is a 174). The question would be...who is more competitive and can score more team points? Our 157's or 174's.
  14. I highly doubt it’s possible or in the cards, but what if KOT goes down instead of up? KOT at 157, Mocco at 165 and squeeze Harmen in the lineup at 174. That would be solid.
  15. How about Mastrgiovanni out of the portal at 157? I’d think that any available 157 would want to practice with KOT every day…
  16. I was thinking along these same lines, but then I thought, even if that scenario plays out, there are still a lot of points there for PSU. Can any other team compete with (and this is based on your exact scenario assuming Starocci and Brooks backups DNQ): NQ, 4, 4, 4, 1, NQ, DNQ, 2, DNQ, 3. Maybe an Iowa with Ferrari’s, Cornell or Mizzou having the tournaments of their life. One other thought, and I doubt it would happen, but what if Carr or O’Toole bump to 74 to face Starocci? How does that play out? Starocci still gets AA points but fun to think about that fantasy matchup.
  17. I was thinking these same things the other day...not specifically about Iowa, but how PSU is getting insane recruiting classes (Their 2024 class has 5 of the top 10 P4P recruits!). I think everything you said is a huge contributor...the success, coaching and RTC. Kids know that if they go to PSU, they're going to win. That got me to thinking...is there anyone that's not currently a head coach that could compete with this, or out-recruit Cael? It doesn't seem like national team coaches can (KJ, Zeke)...or at least they can't compete if they get top recruits, a la ASU's 2014/15 recruiting class. My thoughts, in no particular order, of coaches that could potentially compete with Cael from a recruiting perspective: - Ben Askren: From a college wrestling standpoint, I think recruits would be drawn to him, but from an RTC/post-collegiate wrestling career aspect, I don't see him bringing the same value as having Gilman, Nolf, Zain, Snyder and Taylor. - Jordan Burroughs: Likely the frontrunner in this discussion. His accomplishments would drive recruits to believe they can compete and win in both college and an RTC environment. - David Taylor: Would he move away from Cael? - Kyle Dake: I would have thought that if he was the right guy, he would have bumped Grey out of the picture already. Maybe it's a loyalty thing, or maybe it's a "he's a better technical coach than head coach" - ??? Who else? Whoever it would be would have to be in one of the hot beds with great facilities and an attractive education.
