  1. He wrestled 70kg last two years at U20s. He went 165 at Super 32 last October, so I figured he grew, but he was back down at 157 for Clarion the next week. So yeah, been the same size.
  2. Someones gotta know what he weighs in at. And what does Merrill weigh? Most of the time, guys gain weight between high school and their freshman season. Especially a thinner looking heavyweight like Ross. If he has the strength to handle Merrill, he has the strength to handle most heavyweights. Even Parris had issues with Merrill's power.
  3. I understand some of these guys who win U23 WTTs don't ever have a senior level career, but this selection process goes against what I thought USA always stood for. Coaches choice is not fair by any means, but I will wait to see who gets the spots before I can really say how I feel about it. None of the U23 medalists from last year got the spot through U23 trials. It was all earned via Senior world team. 2024 had Cardenas medal and get the spot via U23 trials. Messenbrink the other USA medalist and got it via seniors. 2023 USA had 4 golds and 3 of them earned the spot through seniors. Hendrickson was the one who got it through U23s.
  4. I don't get what you mean by coaches choose.
  5. 70, 79, 86, 92, 97, 125 These are the weights where someone hasn't earned the U23 spot through making the senior world team. Am I wrong? Is Henson eligible?
  6. Walz coming back to VT?
  7. And Rei Higuchi has postponed his wrestling career. Did won the Emperors Cup. He did not go to Meiji Cup. Hasegawa won Meiji. Process is that if two different guys win Meiji and Emperors, then there's a wrestle off, best 2 out of 3, the day after Emperors Cup. Higuchi decided to not wrestle. Says he will be back for 57kg next year. Japan system is if you medal the year before Olympics, you claim the Olympic spot.
  8. With Connor Mirasola going 125kg at U23s, does that mean they're both trying to go HWT next season? Cole hasn't register for U23s. You don't really want to have two twin brothers trying to beat each other for the same spot on the team. Not ideal for brothers or parents. I can think of a way this could have been avoided. Maybe going to a program you fit into. It looked like they fit when they committed. Barr wasn't supposed to be a 197. But maybe they should have adjusted and left the team.
  9. That's pretty encouraging for Hokie fans to hear Ninninger was winning the spot against a guy who won ACCs and placed 5th at NCAAs. Gaj lost to Lamer twice at NCAAs. Who saw that coming?
  10. What coaching positions are currently open?
  11. Got it. As I said, outside looking in. Gaj had better results at Midlands, so it was an assumption, but I hardly watch anything but the finals of Midlands anymore. Do y'all know the type of injury?
  12. And Burton went 79kg at U20s so we learned he was def going 174. Ninninger at 165 makes sense. I assume Gaj is the better guy being true freshman AA, so Ninninger gets pushed to 165. One of them has to do it. Outside looking in, seems that Gaj won the 149 spot at Midlands. Both guys had a good win early in the season, but Gaj had many losses to good guys and looked good in those losses. I think they both flipped between 149 and 157 at National Duals, right? But Ninninger didn't compete after Midlands(injury?) and Gaj continued to look better throughout second semester. I've said it before, I really think Virginia Tech has a chance to AA at every weight. Everyone is top 10 or ranked very close to it except Mullen.
  13. 125 Lilledahl 133 Blaze 141 Deamond 149 SVN 157 Kasak 165 Duke 174 Mesenbrink 184 Welsh 197 Barr HWT Mirasola
  14. Sherlock Holmes over here. You solved it!
  15. Jaydyn wrestled 132 at Iron man this last year. And he went 132 in 2025 then made 55kg. I'm just gonna assume he's grown, but I'd say there's a chance. I feel like they said in FRL they weren't going 125 and 149. I'm probably off, but they def said they were going to be multiple weight classes apart. Maybe someone remembers
  16. With my very limited understanding of these types of situations, I do not believe Tarleton would be put in that 3 year waiting period because they are already Division 1 in all other sports. The school moved from D2 to D1 in 2024.
  17. I watched it and it's about as bad as it gets. I don't even care to share it here or make a joke about it. Honestly, we should all stop talking about him. Dude seriously needs his family to come get him. That or the cops will
  18. I'm only used to weight changes from medalists in Olympic years, but if I recall, there would be no advantages to being a medalist at 61kg in 2026 and getting any sort of advantages in the wualification weprocess at 65kg in 2027. Who's the last person to medal and change weights in a non-olympic yesr? Cox is the only person that comes to mind.
  19. I'm going to go watch them. The previous videos made me very concerned for his mental health.
  20. Weird. Why green light the facility?these administrators hardly need a good reason for anything they do.
  21. Jayden Raney wrestled 132 lbs in 2025 high school season. Made the Greco World Team that 2025 summer at 55kg(121 lbs). Then he was back at 132 lbs at Iron Man last season. Kentucky high school season he was at 144 lbs, but you gotta go with his Iron Man weight to make an assumption on his true size. Maybe he can make 125 if he walks around at 140.
  22. Paycom obviously landing on OK State singlet. They should just put a pocket on the butt of their singlets with the words "Richison's Wallet" Cael's Cookies might not pay enough to be on Penn State singlets. Maybe KY Jelly - helps them slide into and out of uncomfortable situations. Rudis probably cannot put a sponsor on a Nike Ohio State singlet. Maybe Tinder - great photo, disappointing results in the end(Ohio State fan) Iowa could get a sponsor from Elon's Boring Company. Or maybe Sherwin Willians because watching them wrestle last season was like watching paint dry.
  23. The rules will stop this like it states. These schools are a brand too, just like the brands that want to put sponsors on their uniforms. They don't want that to be overshadowed. NASCAR race teams do not really have a brand to protect.
  24. Separate but related - there were rumors about Iran's participation in the World Cup being in jeopardy, but that's all resolved and had nothing to do with the US government So with Iran participating in the World Cup across North America, I would think that they could participate in 2027 Worlds - assuming the Iranian government does not make them stay home. So that seems encouraging, although the UWW Worlds and the World Cup are not apples to apples.
  25. Some intriguing early rounds match ups: Seidel vs Desanto in the quarters Caliendo vs Jayden James rd 1 - winner gets Sealey in quarters Merrill vs Ghadiali rd1 - winner gets Zillmer in quarters
