  1. 1) 1 did not think Japan was Russia, I think that’s clear and will just leave that there. Go back through with some comprehension skills. 2) In my mind, how I decide to evaluate the sport of international wrestling, yes, I do get to make that choice. In the context of wrestling, they’re all Russians. And I’m not going to argue with you about it. Good day.
  2. In the context of wrestling, they’re all Russians. To each their own.
  3. Okay so I was mistaken. He only wrestled three Russians
  4. Did he wrestle JPN? I can’t remember his second match.
  5. The volume of athletes from Russia repping other countries is getting especially thicker. Am I mistaken in that Brooks wrestled four actual Russians?
  6. Just in lifestyle is what I meant. Discipline is an intrical intrical part of their culture. What we think of here in America as someone have a rare level of self discipline, is pretty much the norm there. Discipline, routine, respect. Three huge pillars in the culture. It starts there.
  7. It was a couple months after, with a medal ceremony for all three medalists on the today show.
  8. I don’t want to sound like one of those social media coaches, but watching both this morning I think I see a path for Snyder over Tazhidonov.
  9. Let’s not forget, wrestling is hard. Half the bracket, at least, is medal contention. Yes we have increased our depth and number of elite athletes through the dream fund and RTC’s. But what wasn’t in place in 2000’s were all these satellites Soviet states fully grounded and operational. They were still getting their shit together and now many of those countries that used to be one litter the podium. What you also didn’t have in the 00’s is the level of free agency there is now these days, which has evolved into even more Russians in the bracket and on the podium. I mean at 86 you have a ‘liev” from Greece, and at 97 you have a “donov” from Bahrain. Those aren’t rare exceptions anymore. Americans, by nature, we have a very very high level of esteem for ourselves. As a whole, Americans wrestlers not collecting the medals we “expect” them to, does not mean they under performed. Others are training for gold too. People around the globe are putting all their focus into how…for one thing among many but is high on the list…how to beat the Americans. This shit is hard. That said, my description of Parris match was “a big strong athletic dude just learning how to wrestle”.
  10. I’ve spent time there wrestling and I would say discipline is at the very forefront. Starts there and they are very very disciplined in every aspect of life.
  11. Do yourself, and the sport of wrestling in this country, a big favor: block that douchebag. He is the wick to the TNT of everything you wrote, and a detriment to the idea of support wrestling.
  12. They didn’t follow a repechage process, at least not the one that is in the book.
  13. People don’t like it, but it’s the right call. There’s nothing that says time left on the clock has anything to do with avoiding wrestling. There’s nothing that says there has to be a duration of time between the last caution. He was absolutely avoiding wrestling. He was absolutely warned before they started dinging points. Very similar to the scenario that led to the Mongolian Strip Tease
  14. I felt like from the beginning, the decision to not award the medal is pure and simple in the book. It’s a DQ from the tournament and DQ’s from the tournament results are erased. What I felt was wrong was just plugging the semi loser in. There is already a repechage set. Wrestle the repechage and bump up the medals. No one likes a final on a FF but in that scenario, that is the reality of what happened. You had one person standing unbeaten and within the rules.
  15. Grouper is my choice. I wouldn’t say significant increase but an increase for sure. Not nearly enough to get me away from it or really have an impact, but enough to notice. Roughly 17-18 a pound back in the day to maybe 20-22 now.
  16. Excuse me. This thread has a very direct purpose. Can you take that nonsense y’all repeating over and over and over again to one of the other multiple threads you’re arguing about the same shit on??? Play the game, or go to a different field.
  17. How about the decision to just roll over on his back once they hit the ground, basically handing him four on a platter? I can’t believe what I was watching.
  18. They were suspended for a little bit but it was an administrative thing. Not a Russia type thing.
  19. All of these comparisons in the international wrestling world have to be split <2000> You simply cannot compare medal counts between 10 weights with 1 Russian, and 6-8 weights with multiple Russians. Yea the satellites were their own federation in ‘96, but they didn’t have their shit together yet and there were still ten weights.
  20. She is the face of the fastest growing sports in the United States. A sport that not only allows for Olympic opportunities but now also college scholarships opportunities. And the United States team has already cemented their best Olympics ever, with four more athletes to go. People who have jobs studying trends because marketing contracts depend on trends take notice of these kinds of things. She will have enough revenue to focus on her international career and her pace course work, if she so chooses.
  21. I am doing nothing more than just guessing, but yes I believe she can match in endorsement deals whatever she would get from an NIL collective. Money is not going to be an issue, she is going to be just fine either way.
  22. She can enroll in a full time schedule, work a full class load and follow the college team training and competition schedule, to compete with a group that have absolutely no business being on the mat with her. Or she can earn a degree at whatever pace she feels like while continuing to focus on her solo career, with the money she is banking from her competition earnings and endorsement deals.
  23. Agreed, people are going to hang in the fact he is the one seed but brooks got the absolute best draw he could have.
  24. According to an article I read, (can’t remember where, but sourcing India media) they did cut her hair and even drew blood.
