Ah. I see we've gone full HR/GIA this morning with a PED reference. Well played.

Meatball Ron defeated by 2nd week of law school material

If Casey got MM into the weight room today, I think it’s possible. That said, I think LH or MM takes an RS of some variety this season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mineo reporting on Twitter: Nagao to Iowa
Le duke replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
You think the kid who couldn’t make 147.4 for a single day event is going to make 149 twice a week for 5 months??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I could see him being a R12 - R16 sort of guy next year.

Someone on BWI/PSU forum suggesting Cannon to Rutgers is a done deal.

Word on the street is that Cael took this personally, and still takes it personally, and won't rest until he doubles Iowa's points at NCAAs. https://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/platform/amp/2010/1/29/1284010/welcome-back-cael-1-iowa-wrestling

Good for Nevills. Glad to see him back in a starting role AND at a program that really needs him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I feel like he’s one of the kids who grew up just beating the daylights out of people from his feet and never really had to develop a baseline defense. Kind of crazy that he took 3rd at NCAAs giving up as many TDs as he did. Although, the “Call an ambulance…but not for me!” meme comes to mind. People get worn out scoring 1-2 TDs on him and then their wheels fall off in the third period. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok. Does 1 (or 2) of the top 20 or 30 guys in a recruiting class qualify as “almost” all of the top guys, to you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Instead of focusing on one family, maybe Iowa should rethink how they train throughout the year, how they prepare mentally and how they coach their athletes. But, that will almost certainly take a coaching change. I don’t think most of the Iowa faithful are prepared to admit that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Huh? All the top guys? Look at Penn State’s recruiting class from 2022. Haines. That’s it. Per Flo, he was #9. Add in #18 Messenbrink. Most pundits would knock both of them down a spot if you include Chittum in there. Also, funny how the guy who is #9/#10 in the class finished far ahead of anyone else. Sorry, Willie, I can’t find your rankings for the class of 2022. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A guy as talented as Messenbrink (the son of Askren’s coach), who gets to work out with Nolf, Dake, Haines and Starocci, and will be coached by Cunningham? After Carr, I’d bet he’s the most likely to knock him off. O’Toole will be in trouble if Starocci comes back in 24-25. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I would be surprised if Truax got any money at all. Or wanted any, for that matter. The amounts being thrown about on message boards aren’t really a concern for his family. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The next step in Cael's plan to destroy college wrestling
Le duke replied to Theo Brixton's topic in College Wrestling
The problem with that is Ben is not operating with full, complete knowledge of a situation. Not saying that I am/was, but people say things on the PSU board that occasionally fill in the voids. As an example, Askren would publicly wonder why SVN had no “good” wins going into the post season. His losses to that point were Murin (3x), Johnson and Sasso. He’d regularly say, “I’m surprised he hasn’t developed more.” What Ben didn’t know was that SVN’s redshirt year didn’t have much wrestling. Kind of hard to develop when you aren’t in the room. Then, SVN took 3rd, beating Johnson, Henson and Parco. Played catchup all year and put it together (coaching helps here) at NCAAs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Some interesting takes there. Van Hess beat Henson pretty easily at NCAAs. Not sure why you’d pick him over SVN, as we’ve seen that match and SVN had the only two TDs of that match. Gap expands with more mat time for SVN. Starts ~11:30 in. Also, I’m taking Haines over Sasso all day, every day. Particularly with another year at PSU under his belt. Messenbrink is going to be great, but beating KOT??? That’s crazy, until we see him dismantling top 5-8 guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who do you envision Anthony Ferrari beating in a theoretical Penn State dual?

The log jam that Penn State has extends down to 141. There is no room for any of them to go up in weight. Only down. BB is a Junior World bronze at 65kg, NCAA 3rd place finisher at 141. Two years of eligibility left. SVN is an NCAA 3rd place finisher at 149. Three years of eligibility left. Kasak is a U17 silver medalist at 65kg. Made 139 recently for Dapper Dan/PWC. At 157-165-174, Penn State has: 1) Carter Starocci, 3x 174lb NCAA champ with two years of eligibility (unlikely to take both). 2) Alex Facundo, 165lbs, 0-2 at NCAAs last year but likely a top 10 guy when healthy. Might be forced into an OLY RS fi Three years of eligibility remaining. 3) Haines, 2nd place at 157 as a true frosh, likely to remain at 157. Three years of eligibility remaining. 4) Mesenbrink, U20 silver medalist at 70kg. Beat Haines after Haines won the challenge tournament. Four years of eligibility. 5) Josh Barr, will be a freshman this year. Will RS unless Starocci goes OLY RS. 174 at the lightest, 184 in time. Four years of eligibility. 5) Joe Sealey, 71kg U17 World Champ. HS Senior this upcoming year. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at NLWC for his senior year or go GS/RS to let the lineup clear out a bit.

Am I? Look at those programs in the last 5 years. I’d make the same argument FOR Iowa at 125/133. If you’re 125/133 and Iowa wants you to transfer there, you should probably do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you’re a 174, 184 or 197, I can think of multiple non-PSU programs with better results and better coaching at that those weights. Hell, UNI is a substantially better option for upper weight talent development than Iowa. I’d argue NC State is, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The only reasons any 165-197lb wrestler would consider transferring into Iowa at this point are NIL or the fact that no one else would take them. They don’t have any RTC athletes worth a damn in that range and their coaches for those weights aren’t very good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
