Assuming Taylor beats Brooks, Taylor will likely knock out another gold next year unless some mystery Iranian or Russian/Bahrainian pops out of the woodwork a la Tazhudinov. The irony is that the Taliban were one of the main beneficiaries of the opium trade and used it as one of the primary sources of income to pay their fighters prior to our withdrawal. One of the weirdest things about the Taliban is that they are now trying to completely rebrand themselves as the moderates of Afghanistan. Seriously. Their social media feeds are wild. As opposed to ISIS-K and others, that’s actually kind of true. And it was super weird seeing Taliban and US troops standing next to each other during the withdrawal. If you listen to the show, Basch does this thing where, after the guest says something of interest, he’ll say, “That’s awesome.” Or, “That’s great.” No follow up. No additional questions. It’s really weird. He did this multiple times during the most recent episode with Wyatt Hendrickson. Styles make matches interesting. Kasak barely beat Cornella at the US Open, then beat Webster 15-7. Webster then beat Cornella 10-1 at the WTT challenge tournament. Mendez then beat Webster 6-3. Then Mendez beat Kasak 4-3 (Kasak with the only TD) and then 9-1 in the best 2 of 3. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Kasak. Unless he can make 141, he’ll be behind SVN for two years. Here’s the thing you aren’t considering: Hamas considers martyrdom the best of all possible outcomes. Particularly if it leads to Iran and other countries getting involved in a shooting war with Israel. And, if they achieve martyrdom and civilians die along the way, so be it. Civilian casualties are a feature, not a bug, and actually serve them by drawing the ire of Iran and other countries.
