Messenbrink looks small for 165. His speed and pace are brutal, though, but stronger guys might try to slow him down, and maybe succeed. I think he’ll make the podium but I think his lack of mass might be to his detriment in the later rounds at NCAAs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
He gave some extra effort to Matt Lee’s face/throat well after the whistle, and he torqued Lee’s knee hard enough to make him MFF out of the 5th place match. The latter might have been incidental but l’m not inclined to give Fernandes the benefit of the doubt these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
True freshman Braeden Davis beat Tristan Lujan and Ethan Berginc. Backup 165 Terrell Barraclough beat #9 Caleb Fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m fine with Iowa having lots of Iowa kids on their lineup. And may their dominance of the Iowa recruiting scene continue for many, many years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s a significant step in his upward progression. Also, looks like Messenbrink won’t get to take a top-10 scalp because his teammate decked Fish right before he pinned White. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Messenbrink is super creative and always looking to score. When he REALLY figures out top and bottom wrestling, watch out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I were a betting man, if the B1G dual season started right now, it’s Davis. Get him two years at 125, let Lilledahl RS, then he moves up to 133. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nagao looked great in his first match of the year. Should see Shawver on the final. Might see an all PSU final again at 141; Evans and Kasak meet in the quarter finals. Evans has an AA scalp this year and lost a tight one against Malyke Hines. Messenbrink should hit Caleb Fish in the 165 final. Might see Josh Barr hit two top-15 dudes in Jacob Nolan and Lane Malczewski. Best bracket outside of 133 and 141, on paper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
