Word on the street is that Yazdani just had shoulder surgery and won’t even be in a mat until 4 months before Paris. He’ll then have to make the team and then beat Taylor. Assuming Taylor beats Brooks, Taylor will likely knock out another gold next year unless some mystery Iranian or Russian/Bahrainian pops out of the woodwork a la Tazhudinov. The irony is that the Taliban were one of the main beneficiaries of the opium trade and used it as one of the primary sources of income to pay their fighters prior to our withdrawal. One of the weirdest things about the Taliban is that they are now trying to completely rebrand themselves as the moderates of Afghanistan. Seriously. Their social media feeds are wild. If you listen to the show, Basch does this thing where, after the guest says something of interest, he’ll say, “That’s awesome.” Or, “That’s great.” No follow up. No additional questions.
