Did it look to you like that E1 was a gift to Hidlay? It certainly appeared that way to me. I don't want to call it a pity point but it looked like he could have ridden Hidlay for days. That match was one of the best matches, technically and tactically, I've seen at the college level. Brooks owned every second of that match. I don't think I saw Hidlay get to his underhook a single time.

I see a (6) next to a Truax in the bracket, and a Truax winning the 5th place match at 184. So, Starocci, Kasak and Truax all outplaced their seed.

College DT was great (2x Hodge...) but Aaron Brooks is the only guy Cael has ever coached who would be a legit senior worlds/Olympic medalist, today, as a college student. I can't say the same thing about Nolf, Zain, DT, Nickal or Ed. And they were all amazingly good wrestlers.

It’s rumored that Casey makes more than most HCs, right now. Casey would likely have to take a pay cut at everywhere other than a few other schools. And pack up his life to move to some other place he either hasn’t lived before or hasn’t lived in for almost 20 years. I just don’t think it’s happening short of Michigan, Iowa, or other top program. In contrast, Carter Starocci won NCAAs with a broken hand one year and likely a torn LCL this year. Yianni won NCAAs on a torn ACL. Spencer Lee, need I say more. Dozens of other examples. I know Iowa fans think Ayala is going to smoke everyone from yesterday onwards but Lilledahl is really, really good. Beating people of the same caliber as Ayala as a high school senior. Penn State will have top 1/2 guys at 141, 149, 157, 165. I’d bet Kerk returns. Not sure about BB. At 125, they sent out a true freshman who lost in the R12 in OT, after losing 3-2 to the eventual champion. 133, an AA who didn’t look right all year, R12. Could see Lilledahl (2x World silver/1x gold) go at 125 while Davis RS. That kid is amazing. At 174, 184 and 197: Zack Ryder (2x World medalist), Facundo (2x World medalist), Barr and an absolute killer in Connor Mirasola.
