  1. Ungar got the escape, Camacho got a reversal and rideout. Good hard ride from Camacho.

Bailey (penalty point against UALR) Cornella 17-1 tech over Van Hoecke Fernandez 14-13 over Dutton (came back from down 0-7) Shapiro 8-1 over Bianchi Ramirez Fall over B. 3. if hillbillies are starting to pronounce jewish names i'm already driving away
  4. AJ seemed like a good teammate but kind of an egotistical jackass.
  5. Sure but that'll end up being a combination of honor system and committee judgment.
  6. I think the NCAA's ultimate decision is "if you aren't well enough to wrestle at the conference tournament we aren't holding a place for you at natty."
  7. I am surprised that more people outside of the Cornell umbrella think CKLV was good for Cornell. I thought the results from Cornella, Shapiro, Foca and Fernandes were all disappointing. I expected a bigger hit in the rankings/perception even though I am not worried long term (especially Shapiro and Foca).
  8. I think the answer here is "the matches are all on video." If a guy with a known injury steps on the mat and suddenly we're watching the World Cup and someone comes out with cold spray but can't "treat the injury," that won't count. If the ref blows the whistle and the guys collide like a pair of bighorn sheep and one of them can't remember what day of the week it is, that will count.
  9. This isn't new, and I think you're misreading it. You don't have to finish on the bubble to be in the at-large pool. To get considered you only need to fulfill any two of the six listed criteria. So, for example, if you head into the conference tournament ranked high in CR and RPI with a straospheric win% but go 0-2 at the tournament, you're still in the mix. Likewise, if you didn't have much of a season but caught a heater in the conference tournament, knocking off a wrestler who earned a pre-allocated spot and finishing on the bubble, you have added yourself to the mix. There are a separate (though overlapping) set of criteria for choosing the at-large wrestlers from the at large pool.
  10. In his recap to the fans, this is what Coach Grey had to say: Nothing about injury or gas tank, focused on technique. I guess we'll see!
  11. i think it is the competitive nature of athletes to say they're good to go. i don't think anyone on staff was putting him in danger with ill-intent or recklessness. i'm just a couchside critic, but i thought he looked loopy against chumbley and kept gamely trying to continue despite appearing lethargic out of proportion to what you'd expect from someone with his history of success and endurance. when ramirez got concussed against ogunsanya as a freshman, he continued - he even got the first takedown after the break - but he eventually had to quit the match and take some time off. he didn't really look right again until EIWA. kids want to compete and coaches want to let them. competitive fire can be blinders even for the most concientious of us.
  12. he didn't look right in the cardenas match but he looked way off against chumbley. everything seemed to take forever and i was diagnosing him as concussed from my office. i'm no expert so i'm mostly making fun of myself but it wasn't a post-hoc excuse for losing. i was wondering why he was still out there.
  13. he was already taking off the fall semester to preserve Ivy eligibility for the spring but the word is that he reinjured his shoulder and he's dunzo for the year. likely to graduate in the spring and if he wrestles again it won't be for Cornell.
  14. Maybe what he doesn't care about is international non-Olympic wrestling. Maybe he went through US qualifying, proved that he's still the top dog, then deferred because he doesn't care about gold in non-Olympic years when the only people who watch wrestling also post on message boards. We'll see whether he cares when it's actually the Olympics.
  15. i thought that would be true but track acknowledges my flo login and still parts are inacessible is nhs67 secretly tom brands (sorry i don't mean to antagonize the only actually useful poster other than SHP)
  16. i wish they would dissolve the wall between flo and track. i am still not sure what level of subscription i need to see weight certifications on track.
  17. he's right. arena is free regardless.
  18. do any of you ever get bored with this? every goddamn thread.
  19. Thank you to Jay Aiello for beating Trumble at Final X 2022 so Cardenas kept his spot at U23 and congrats to Trumble on the gold.
  20. was shocked moldova didn't challenge the no call before Trumble scored to make it 8-0; don't know how the challenge would have gone but i expected it.
  21. right, i was agreeing with you.
  22. you have to scroll to see it on Flo but the US is technically in the lead with 3 golds and 2 bronzes plus other match wins to get to 65 points. The "Individual Neutral Athletes" are unscored as a team but have 5 golds, a silver and a bronze so... yeah (unless Belarus is absolutely KILLING it). Edit: as I was typing AIN added another bronze.
  23. Hardy gets both ankles and somehow the Georgian holds a quadpod and slips out, and Hardy loses the challenge. The Georgian gets a single leg and Hardy counters, they scramble for a while and Hardy comes out on top. Then it happens again for Hardy to go up 6-5. Incredible work, plus a final takedown of his own after the Georgian was gassed.
  24. Hardy's second period to win 8-5 was as much fun as I've had watching an international match in a while.
  25. This is basically it. O'Toole is great but Carr has beaten him more than once, and in high-stakes matches. Carr is also great! Brooks' adjustment to 197 might be a big deal but idk I think he's still the favorite going away. He blew through the U23 field at ~190 and after seeing the way he had David Taylor in jeopardy at X I don't see much of a threat at 197 (even if I want Cardenas to take him out).
