Watching Max Leete of American wrestle on one knee for almost the entire seven minutes against Ferrara was driving me insane. Credit to the kid for winning the match (and getting the takedown he needed to come from behind) but there is no way the ref should allow anyone but Robles to scoot around on a knee for the whole match.

scuttlebutt is that he didn't do well enough during his greyshirt year at community college to get his resume past the cornell admissions office. i'm sure the pending charges didn't help but it's unclear if they hurt (innocent until proven guilty etc.) as for unc academics, it is my wife's alma mater and was a great school while we were in college. i'm sure some of the programs are still top notch but the powers that be in the state have spent a decade degrading the school on purpose out of open hostility to the humanities.

fair - though it wasn't simply public intoxication at ISU. and if I am reading the timeline of his other charges right... ISU was his second chance. If we're being honest, though, I am in favor of multiple chances and this particular one sticks in my craw for entirely parochial reasons ... and the fact that he went rogue again IMMEDIATELY after helping PSU to the title.

my bad - i thought i read it was a felony charge and appreciate the correctionn but the broader point about koll's pull stands. in any event, it is not to pull holier-than-thou's-school nonsense; cornell's got a rap sheet everywhere that it matters so i'm not throwing stones (except very specifically for Cael stealing a national title from us with a guy kicked off of ISU for sexual assault).

idk i think waning influence - especially with the retirement of wrestle-centric AD Andy Noel - was part of his departure. that may have changed getting outbid for vega but idk if he'd have been able to buck the administration if they weren't going to let him bring in a guy facing felony charges.

Isaiah at 125 is, in fact, the plan, according to an insider - not off the record but also not "public". Feel free to take this with a grain of salt but i'm not making it up. This'll get worked out at the Scuffle. If the Scuffle is not formally a wrestle-off, it's still a significant data point in the decisions for a bunch of weights going forward. Greg D. returns at 125, Ungar at 133, Fernandez at 149 (though i doubt he replaces Joy barring an injury regardless of Scuffle results) and maybe 165 since Rogers bumped up from 157 with the return of Shapiro; Rogers/Cerchio split the work at Journeymen.

if i wanted to really really go on a rant that doesn't fit on a wrestling forum i'd explain why qualified immunity is the worst thing the supreme court ever invented. it's why cops get to shoot first and ask questions later. iowa athletes getting jammed up for gambling is not close to the worst thing that happens because of QI. (not invented by the current court and there's a *little* momentum towards reining it in from some lower courts, but not a lot.)

Absolutely true. That said, he could probably start at like Davidson and the chances of a SoCon bid are decent (though obvs no lock).

i think knox was sloppy early - particularly strategically. He threw away an escape point at the end of the first by shooting before the ref gave him credit (and getting stuck underneath for the last 10 seconds) then got himself reversed in the second. Blew his chance to get RT under a minute. Giving Bouzakis a lead like that was not something he could overcome. Hopefully he'll learn to adjust and be a little more careful at the higher level. As for tOSU, McCrone won Clarion but by a thread. One point over Bouzakis and - more surprisingly - only 1-0 over Milani.

that's what i thought! turns out i was accidentally looking at the 2025 roster on WS. someone HAS to be transferring out at 125. insane for Kilkeary especially to spend the year watching as the #3 with no real path to the mat on the horizon.

I didn't get to watch a lot of the Clarion Open this weekend, but i did notice that McCrone, Bouzakis and Kilkeary were all there at 125 as Davino won the 133 bracket. Embarrassment of riches, to be sure, even if nobody has AA'd yet. With Bouzakis down at 125, does that mean Davino is getting his redshirt pulled to start at 133? Rough go for Bouzakis, who lost in the Clarion final to McCrone as well. Spring transfer in someone's future? Not stirring shit, just some questions from what i'm seeing on paper.

feels like either paniro or vinny bumps to 165, right? no way vinny is transferring to sit and unless echemendia or johnson are still hurt those three guys have to be the stretch from 149-165.
