  1. Not “every” part. Since I know you’re pedantic whiner who latches onto the littlest word to hang on to your arguments But I’ve done it enough to get kids to stay.. and there’s plenty of coaches much better at it than me.. and since you have an extremely old school school attitude bout da grind. Is what it is
  2. If you don’t understand how there are ways to make wrestling fun and somewhere the kids want to be… that shows either massive ignorance and/or incompetence
  3. That’s fine. You like being a contrarian. And I don’t feel like getting into the nitty gritty history of college athletics
  4. Stillwater is not really an “Oklahoma school” anymore though… more like Blair central
  5. It’s stuck in niche sport status because our people weren’t proactive and didn’t think big picture.
  6. Again. You miss the point
  7. Ranking events would help
  8. I personally don’t look at grad transfers or guys from cut programs the same as the more “free” current portal stuff
  9. I more so think it’s the normal story of the kids north of I-80 going out of state
  10. I was hoping he’d stay in Illinois
  11. What’s preventing them
  12. You have been.. not exactly salty.. but pretty chippy and defensive as of late… why is that
  13. Oh I understood your point pretty clearly. all of it. Not just what I addressed. St. Louis ain’t Chicago or nyc blue.. Leaving all that aside, getting mad that the best places to host are where there are actually people is just.. something
  14. Cannon is a former AA as well
  15. Calm down. Big venues/events need the appropriate facilities and environment. NCAAs is a social event for the wrestling community.. not just a wrestling tournament. Many people get to see other people they haven’t seen or talked to in a long time. It being an “event” is what makes it special. Wanting a location with adequate much less actually good.. and most importantly.. ENOUGH hotels, bars, and food venues.. isn’t “dissing” on blue collar republican America the way you’re trying to say.. especially because Ohio and Missouri aren’t what one would call “blue” states…. and everyone was happy with those venues.
  16. Quality of competition… As far as the thread.. college coaches have told me they mainly look at national results from super 32 and Fargo and then what coaches they trust/or who wrestled in college say about the kid. They only really care about state results from 3A Illinois, D1 Ohio, big school pa, cali, jersey one coach flat out said any other state titles are just indicators and they need to see national results
  17. I’ve found that if you really want to get into a kids head. Use that story. It works irregardless irrespective of background
  18. Agreed. Just had this conversation with a parent
  19. Feel that. People ask how many I’ve had.. I’m always like ummm idk. Trained through a lot
  20. I got one right now because idiots don’t listen. Had too many in hs/college. My pity for coaches who don’t handle them correctly is zero
  21. You know as well as I do people, including on this thread and in the past argue often against Changing the rules… stop being pedantic because you want to ignore my actual point
  22. That played a small role. The bigger role was not being proactive about rule changes and getting their guys into admin and going after tv deals. Football and basketball college and pro. Did not magically take over. They made strategic decisions. Hell, even now with the changes with NIL and college sports. Football Coaches are much more proactive and actively looking at the risks to their sport in a much more long term and pragmatic way than wrestling does.
