  1. Re JJ: idk. treating each individual like an individual seems necessary, e.g. what's the use of making Ben Askren train like everyone else? Re lifestyle choices: What about a multiple x AA who uses Zyn or dips? Vapes? Delta 8 or whatever? What about one with a med marijuana card? What about one who smokes weed in the off season? What about etc. Slippery slope and all. Problem is that the the staff will try to keep the special treatment under wraps, but it always gets out. Then the staff gets dragged for hypocricy and it crushes team morale.
  2. Yeah. JWS probably never even mentioned this. (Ohh ... Real question: Are we supposed to ignore JC?)
  3. I have nothing to add to the who's-gonna-win debate (toss-ups, bonus, upsets, etc), but I think that OSU is gonna double-up on takedown totals.
  4. I'm red-green colorblind. As a coach, I would always have to ask my asst who got the points when there was a lot of rollin' around. For the differently-abled, I see the advantage of home and away. Either that or a change to red and blue.
  5. Why do you think? I'd guess it has to do with the size of the huntable area. There's just too much space to cover with a bow. Same with Colorado and Montana. I'd bet more densely populated areas with less huntable areas and higher density of game would be at the top of the list.
  6. Did you see that *sh1t*?! The whole team was wearing Panda Dunks! Sickening
  7. Gum? You can stick your bougie pretenses in a sack, mister.
  8. I'm suspcious of a positive causal correlation between drinking and weight gain. As a professional alcoholic, I know that if I drink, I drink and abstain from extraneous calorie consumption, I.e. I don't eat. Eating gets in the way of the primary objective, I.e. to get drunk and continue destroying my life. I know that there is more than one way to win the race to the bottom, but fatdrunk is once that I'm not familiar with.
  9. Where is he at?
  10. my inane joke had already been made.
  11. This might go in the international forum (Honestly probably to too inane be to posted anywhere), but here goes: the Spartan Combat logo looks half-assed. Couldn't they scrounge up a couple of bucks for a competent designer? So as not to be accused of just complaining, I offer a solution. . . wrestling ally from way back: BRANDING | Christian Ceci https://www.christianceci.com/branding
  12. I'll go a step farther and say it would be better to divorse the two at all levels.
  13. Insert gratuitous Chris Perry insult.
  14. Sure, if you imagine that you're gonna do anything else besides wrestle the rest of you're life. The best of the best don't, and I imagine all of these types of recruits think that they are in that category. They figure they are the next ________.
  15. Yeah. Scott and EG sound like him but it's not because he's short. JS has got that classic Oklahoma lilting drawl. It's not that nasal twang like they have in Southeast. It's not the loud, macho, self-importance that Texans have. It's soft, but not the high-pitched stacatto (effeminate?) Of Appalachia. There's something sneaky in their delivery, like they know something you don't.
  16. Word. I teach high school, and when the little shits get me down my wife always reminds me, "They might be assholes, but there not fully formed assholes." I hope that is the case with AF. However, I get the sense that they're gonna need a team of CBT specialists, two on-call life coaches, a couple of emotional support pugs, a priest, and a medium to get in touch with Lacan and Freud as needed.
  17. Ive had a two guys become drs and several soldiers though I can't say for sure if they directly saved lives. . . though I'm sure the servicemen risked theirs. But, I gotta think you're right: To play some small part in the development of a hero's story must be gratifying.
  18. One of the only pleasures of being a coach for a team with lots of room for improvement, I.e. a team that ain't very good, is the opportunity to have a direct impact on a kid's development. You might take a guy with a losing record, figure out a niche set of techniques that the he could master, and then get him to beat guys he wasn't supposed to beat. That's satisfying. I can't imagine being able to do anything of the kind with AF. What gratification could you get from cornering for him?
  19. New York Outrage ... That's funny
  20. True, but you see the logic. They were trying to attract ... ugghhh, can't believe I'm going to use thus f-in' term ... "causuals." They wanted to make it clear that an actual sporting event was happening. But then, in the packaging, they leaned into a few too many fake pro wrestling tropes: fake teams, spandex and bare chests, light show, fog machines, canned applause (I think), etc. Any of these gimmicks on their own aren't so bad. (I actually really liked the idea of teams.) Together, kinda chintzy imo. That said, the matches were great. My favorite was Jantzen vs Larkin. I haven't found it online yet.
  21. Wasn't this on basic cable? It was before paid streaming services were common. Maybe even before DVR was common. I remember watching it "live."
  22. What happened to that trap arm? At one point in his career, it was match over if he got on top. I guess folks started scouting him, but I thought he was so good at it that it wouldn't matter. It just reminds us of how freakish the best of the best are. Cross's hi-gut, Aldatov's lace, Saitiev's West Point -- I mean, wtf?
  23. He had more points at the end, but .... Idk
