The Martin is fantastic. Super quality wood and construction. The patented bracing is the most important part. Sustain. I describe it as you can strum a chord, set the guitar down, go get a cup of coffee, come back, and it’s still playing. They’re not real easy to play, though. Kinda stiff, but worth it. Taylor makes some nice guitars that play easy and sound good, but I prefer the Martin. I didn’t care for the finger jointed neck on the Taylor, even tthough I know from my woodworking experience that glued finger joints are stronger than the wood, itself. Nowadays you can get the Telecaster and Stratocaster electronics already assembled, soldered, and all. Mojotone, maybe others, sell them. And amps, and about everything.

I’ve got an old Jackson JTX that I modified by changing the bridge and all the electronics and controls to Telecastor components. The pickups are DiMarzio. My favorite though, is my Martin D35. I installed an L R Baggs in it that has both a microphonic and a piezo pickup that has a volume and blend controls. I can play it through any amp and get the sound right. Then I’ve got a Yamaha acoustic that’s for when I don’t want to break out the good one.
