  1. Quint should have followed up with “What about the Jews, Aaron? Where do they fit into all of this?”
  2. He was asked about his faith in general. He was not responding to a question about another view. He decided to comment on false prophets to proselytize and push his beliefs on others. What you point out about what’s wrong with other religions is not wrong, but it misses the point.
  3. You’re not wrong about that. So why not use the post-match interview to talk about every other inconsistency in the world? Maybe Brooks should have also talked about the role government plays in our lives, race relations and foreign policy? Hmm, I wonder why he didn’t talk about where the current policies there go wrong?
  4. Because its the NCAA wrestling championships, not the Evangelical network.
  5. Overly complicated
  6. Because this is the first time where someone so blatantly insulted other faiths, and it was unprompted.
  7. Iowa is still a perennial top 3 program, and the Brands brothers and the rest of the staff have to be given credit for that. Who, other than Cael could come in and upgrade Iowa from where they are now? The expectation in Iowa may be national championships and anything else is failure, but I don’t see anyone else competing with PSU either. What’s the alternative to the Brands brothers?
  8. Exactly. As long they stay in line, they are tolerated. Not such a great life if you ask me.
  9. While Iran may wrestle Jews from other countries their refusal to wrestle Israelis is rooted in their belief that there is no place for a Jewish controlled country on what they see as Muslim land. So what you say about Western media is not really accurate. The idea that their refusal to compete against Israel is purely political is nonesense. To them Jews are dhimmis, and must be second class citizens on Muslim land. They don’t care one bit about the Palestinians. And I can point to a number of other examples in other parts of the world where Iran doesn’t follow the same policy as they do with Israel (Uighur Muslims in China, Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar). The only difference is that Israel is Jewish. You are also very misinformed about Jews in Iran. Outside of Israel, Iran may have one of the largest Jewish populations in the Middle East but that is only because there a basically no Jews left in other Muslim/Arab countries! All the Jews fled every other Middle Eastern country (including Iran). Probably more than 90% fled Iran since the Islamic revolution in 1979. The 10,000 or so that remain know exactly what to say to the press to keep from being harassed by those in power. I know many Iranian Jews who still have family there and it is widely known that the Iranian representative from the Jewish community has to make statements against Israel from time to time. The community there says and does what they have to to be left alone, but they are not living the good life you allude to.
  10. Guessing this is Lee’s mom?
  11. I get that Brooks and other guys are driven by their strong faith and they are just coming off the mat with heightened emotions, but disparaging other religious beliefs?
  12. Yianni seemed pretty upset and said something to Van Ness right after they shook hands. I don’t know what he said, but guessing it had something to do with how close the match was. Last year after his semi win over Sasso he was pretty upset at how close the match was and said so in his interview right after coming off the mat. He seems to have such big expectations of himself that winning a close match in the semis is not good enough. I think very few guys are able to truly have that mentality.
  13. I’m just saying it’s not a prediction that at the time people would have been so surprised to see happen. Everyone knew he was good and PSU does this all the time.
  14. Oh come on, predicting one of the top recruits in the country wrestling for the top program in the country is going to be a beast is not exactly going out on a limb.
  15. The camera switched to the general view of all the mats and then I’m pretty sure it was Joe Dubuque saying “way to bounce back, it’s hard to do this shit man”. Great matside coverage by ESPN.
  16. As a big badger fan, will very much be pulling for Hamiti, but I think O’Toole is the favorite here. I actually think Hamiti’s style presents more problems for Carr and could see him having a better chance in that match (if it happens).
  17. Any idea if split screen is available? It hasn’t been for a year or so.
  18. Are times listed Eastern or Central?
  19. Griffith is the wild card. Could see him returning to the finals and taking out any of the top 3. Could also see him getting upset before the quarters.
  20. Nice QF matchup of Griffith/O’Toole.
  21. Part of me wanted the same thing. I’m sure he would have been a great recruiter and gotten some serious talent in the room. But I can’t imagine he would have dealt well with the athletic department administrators etc I thought when he took over as club coach it would be the best of both worlds, he’d get top guys in the room, but not have to deal with head coaching duties outside of wrestling. Obviously, it wasn’t meant to be.
  22. @scourge165thanks for the info on Askren/UW. Were you ever on the team? I was an out of state walk-on back in the day, but never knew much of the inside story why Askren had such a beef with UW. I know he has steered WI guys away for a while, but didn’t realize the extent to which he is undermining the coaching staff’s ability to recruit the state. That’s a huge hurdle to have to overcome.
  23. Got it, thanks.
  24. Is anyone else unable to see forum section headings (International, College, High School etc) or are all topics together, regardless of the section like they are for me?
  25. How about it Jimmy, tell us about your career.
