  1. "Not that there's anything wrong with that"
  2. And the status of Crooham and Stanich?
  3. Foca to Lehigh: when what freezes over? Cardenas and Fernandes do appear to be using the last of their Ivy eligibility this year; Cardenas is in the portal as a grad student, but I don't think Fernandes is going to continue (just my vague opinion). It's possible that Foca still can compete next year at Cornell prior to graduating (taking the Palacio path). He'd be looking at a Shapiro/Ramirez/Ruiz/Foca 157-184 lineup. Maybe I'll try to annoy them at the Princeton dual next weekend and get some inside skinny.
  4. Tanner Sloan, who won 197, would like a word.
  5. Why not? Is not part of the job of a head coach to attract top tier talent?
  6. Pretty much! Cornell/Mike Grey has a great NJ pipeline. Ungar: PA Vito: NY Cornella: CO Fernandez: NJ Shapiro: MD (but Wyoming Seminary in PA) Ramirez: FL (but Blair in NJ) Canoyer: NE Foca: Joisey! (Bergen Catholic) Cardenas: NJ (Bergen Catholic) Fernandes: NJ
  7. I asked you a couple of questions, and you chose not to answer. So, we're done.
  8. I'm not offended, thanks. And thanks for giving your reasons. Wrt the lawyer thing: was their appeal successful, and therefore justified? If they thought they had a sound basis for an appeal, should they not have appealed? Do they not owe it to their wrestler to support him to the best of their ability? Honest questions. In 2021-22, they lost to Penn State, Lehigh, and Wisconsin. All with full, expected lineups. So, no ducking and losing that year. In 2022-23, they lost to Wisconsin, Iowa State, and Ohio State (without Ungar (who missed the previous dual)/Yianni/Cornella (who missed the previous *three* duals)/Foca (whose replacement won)). Only the Ohio State dual might have been won, but not easily, if Yianni had been there. Do you think Yianni was ducking Sasso? IIRC, Yianni didn't duck McKenna at their dual the year before. So, Ungar missed the previous dual, Cornella missed the previous three duals: were they ducking? This year, they have lost to Iowa State (with the disputed injuries), Ohio State (with their best available team), and Lehigh (also with their best available team) None of those matches would have been "easily won," had everyone been available. Which duals did I miss that they would have won "easily" if not for ducking? Honest question, again.
  9. Shocking that Cornell is your least favorite program. You always have such nice things to say about them. Vito has twice in his career lost to someone that he earlier beat in a dominant way: future NCAA champion Patrick Glory, whom he pinned in the dual and then lost to in the EIWA final one year, then majored in the EIWA final and lost to in the NCAA semis the next year. His only other career losses are to Rivera (who he never beat), Latona (who he beat 6-1 and then lost to when injured), and Crooham in their only meeting.
  10. Bigger than Dean vs. Nickal?
  11. So, in his previous match, Ramirez was faking a hurt ankle in preparation for ducking? You guys are just too much.
  12. Give it a f****ing rest already.
  13. FFS, all I said, in response to a claim that seeding 1 through 4 doesn't matter, was that in this particular case it did matter. I didn't make any claims *at all* about what the seeding should have been, if indeed it should have been different.
  14. "Hey Chris, would you rather wrestle Saturday morning for third where you may win, or Saturday night in the finals with two teammates, where you'll likely lose?"
  15. That wasn't exactly clear from your arguments! This was my only point, if everyone just looks at the post that I quoted.
  16. If the seeding was different, and Lewis and Foca were the #2 and #3 seeds, Foca may have beaten Lewis in the semi-finals instead of the consolation finals, and would have wrestled Saturday night (with teammates Arujau and Yianni!) for the title against Starocci.
  17. In 2023 at 174, Foca was #4 and lost to #1 Starocci. The #2 Labriola beat #3 Lewis. Foca beat Lewis for third place. Tell Chris Foca that seeding 1 through 4 was meaningless.
  18. Fernandes, for one, is an actual farmer (he grew up on his family farm in NJ), so, no. Cardenas and Foca are in the Architecture, Art, & Planning College, so not likely there, either.
  19. Brooks was seeded third, IIRC, because he didn't have sufficient matches to earn an RPI, so he couldn't possibly have been seeded #1. Apples and oranges.
  20. Who are the "Polish dudes?" I see six "Italian names," one "Polish" name (Poznanski), and one guy from Belarus.
  21. The Ivy League didn't compete the "free year," so, no. 2018: grey shirt 2019: 4th as freshman 2020: Olympic RS (not enrolled) 2021: COVID-cancelled Ivy League (also not enrolled) 2022: 3rd as sophomore 2023: 1st as junior 2024: TBD 2025: N/A
  22. Shapiro went 15-0 (12 by bonus) last year as a high school senior wrestling D1 opponents. So, he's actually 29-2 as far as wrestlestats is concerned. Two wins over Andonian and all the rest has his ELO high enough for a #1 ranking.
  23. Vito has no eligibility left anywhere. He's gone 4-3-1 at NCAAs. Foca, Cardenas, and Fernandes each have a year of NCAA eligibility left. They also have a year of Ivy eligibility left, as long as they don't graduate before next year. If they do graduate, they can use that eligibility at a school that allows for graduate student athletes. Ramirez came in with the above three, but is listed as a junior. The guess would be that he sat out at least one semester more than did the other three, who are listed as seniors. The COVID year in which the Ivy League cancelled all sports caused these guys to decide to remain enrolled or not. I would be really annoyed if Fernandes doesn't get AA this year, transfers, and gets AA somewhere else. IYKY.
