  1. Get used to disappointment.
  2. And Peterson beats Ramos...
  3. Cardenas with a late TD to upset Deprez in the EIWA semi-final match.
  4. Don't know, but I remember that the baseball matchup between Vanlandingham and Isringhausen was *not* the longest combined names.
  5. Cornella blew out his injured knee in OT. Two matches and scrupulously avoided ever being on bottom, and really couldn't do much in neutral. Cornell could've had all ten guys in the semis if not for that injury (yeah, everyone gets injuries).
  6. Losing with about :20 to go, getting the late TD and riding out (with a bonus NF at the end) is "light work"?
  7. The difference is that Fernandez earned them, and Swisher didn't.
  8. This. Fernandez got the first two takedowns, was in deep about three more times, and gave up a very late takedown. The ref failed to give Fernandez back points on the first takedown. Swisher really only had that one TD attempt the whole match, it seemed.
  9. Fernandez is the guy who beat Swisher, and yes, he should review that match!
  10. Gabe Dean was the #73 ranked recruit in Flo's rankings. Finished 3,1,1,2 at NCAAs for Cornell.
  11. Except a Medical Forfeit is when a wrestler does not take the mat at all. No recovery from that. An injury default is when a wrestler starts but does not finish a match. The wrestler can compete in their next match.
  12. Not exactly authoritative, is it? A tweet by a reporter (I guess) quoting an unnamed official. Which do you think is more likely: 1.a was officially cited without any other swimmer actually being interfered with, and nobody reviewed and overruled what would be an obvious discretionary correction; or 1.b was cited as an obvious infraction occured?
  13. I'm curious as to who "they" are who you are citing and where the citation is to be found.
  14. Seems like people don't understand that the swimmer broke a clear rule, most likely unintentionally, and that the official on deck should not have enforced the rule since it appears that no other swimmer's race was affected. I guess "no harm, no foul" is the thinking?
  15. I thought this part was pretty clear: Rule 2.5.1.b: A swimmer who changes lanes during a heat shall be disqualified. https://swimswam.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/NCAA-Swimming-and-Diving-Rules-Book-2021-2023.pdf
  16. The race isn't over until the last person in the heat finishes. You can't leave your lane, neither by going into another lane nor by getting out of the pool. This rule *ensures* that nobody interferes with any other swimmer. No judgment needed. You don't do it. Make no mistake: I feel for him.
  17. Rather than the simple and obvious "don't do that"?
  18. The guy who was disqualified changed lanes before all swimmers had finished. That's a no-no. There's no judgment allowed on the official's part; do you want it to be a judgment call as to whether anyone in another lane was affected? The correct response by the winner of a heat is to remain in the lane until everyone is finished; maybe hang on the lane line to congratulate the swimmer in the next lane.
  19. I think Ramirez has a better shot than does Foca. Ramirez has career wins over two NCAA champions (Griffith, Carr), including Carr this year. O'Toole is likely a bridge too far.
  20. Arujau and Shapiro both have decent shots at winning.
  21. Not quite. He has to wrestle two matches at the conference tournament to qualify for an at-large bid. Can't just walk on, MFF, and walk off. Those days are gone. At least, that's how I sorta understand it!
  22. Crookham hasn't wrestled in a month (Santoro said he was "week-to-week"...for four weeks?), and Stanich has missed the last couple weekends (the cut is hard for him?). Beard is good for lots of points, and Taylor might surprise some folks. Between 133 and 197, they have almost nothing. Match notes for the ASU dual this week show Seymour or Stanich at 125, and Crooham at 133 (as they did last weekend, and the weekend before, and the weekend before).
  23. Not sure to what you are referring. He's already qualified for the OTT, which I thought was the topic at hand.
  24. Shapiro has the choice of going down to 65kg and facing Yianni and the rest, or going up to 74kg and facing Dake and JB and the rest. No good options. For sure, if he goes 74kg he'll be fully fueled a month after being 157 at NCAAs. He's said he really doesn't like to cut weight. It would be interesting to see what his speed would do against a "monster" like Dake.
  25. All good. Sorry if I misinterpreted your statement. (again, do what I did: find a TV provider that carries the network you want and that offers a free trial (like FuboTV), sign up, watch, cancel. The TV providers make these offers knowing full well that most won't stick, but they've calculated that it is worth it to them.
