  1. Give it a f****ing rest already.
  2. FFS, all I said, in response to a claim that seeding 1 through 4 doesn't matter, was that in this particular case it did matter. I didn't make any claims *at all* about what the seeding should have been, if indeed it should have been different.
  3. "Hey Chris, would you rather wrestle Saturday morning for third where you may win, or Saturday night in the finals with two teammates, where you'll likely lose?"
  4. That wasn't exactly clear from your arguments! This was my only point, if everyone just looks at the post that I quoted.
  5. If the seeding was different, and Lewis and Foca were the #2 and #3 seeds, Foca may have beaten Lewis in the semi-finals instead of the consolation finals, and would have wrestled Saturday night (with teammates Arujau and Yianni!) for the title against Starocci.
  6. In 2023 at 174, Foca was #4 and lost to #1 Starocci. The #2 Labriola beat #3 Lewis. Foca beat Lewis for third place. Tell Chris Foca that seeding 1 through 4 was meaningless.
  7. Fernandes, for one, is an actual farmer (he grew up on his family farm in NJ), so, no. Cardenas and Foca are in the Architecture, Art, & Planning College, so not likely there, either.
  8. Brooks was seeded third, IIRC, because he didn't have sufficient matches to earn an RPI, so he couldn't possibly have been seeded #1. Apples and oranges.
  9. Who are the "Polish dudes?" I see six "Italian names," one "Polish" name (Poznanski), and one guy from Belarus.
  10. The Ivy League didn't compete the "free year," so, no. 2018: grey shirt 2019: 4th as freshman 2020: Olympic RS (not enrolled) 2021: COVID-cancelled Ivy League (also not enrolled) 2022: 3rd as sophomore 2023: 1st as junior 2024: TBD 2025: N/A
  11. Shapiro went 15-0 (12 by bonus) last year as a high school senior wrestling D1 opponents. So, he's actually 29-2 as far as wrestlestats is concerned. Two wins over Andonian and all the rest has his ELO high enough for a #1 ranking.
  12. Vito has no eligibility left anywhere. He's gone 4-3-1 at NCAAs. Foca, Cardenas, and Fernandes each have a year of NCAA eligibility left. They also have a year of Ivy eligibility left, as long as they don't graduate before next year. If they do graduate, they can use that eligibility at a school that allows for graduate student athletes. Ramirez came in with the above three, but is listed as a junior. The guess would be that he sat out at least one semester more than did the other three, who are listed as seniors. The COVID year in which the Ivy League cancelled all sports caused these guys to decide to remain enrolled or not. I would be really annoyed if Fernandes doesn't get AA this year, transfers, and gets AA somewhere else. IYKY.
  13. Like Andonian and Gallagher and Mauller? The latter of whom gave up the first bonus loss of his career? And who, collectively, he outscored 45-8, including not giving up even an escape to Gallagher? How do you gas badly and accomplish that against these guys? Are you trying to say that he doesn't gas against those known for high pace, or that he even gasses against those without high pace?
  14. Thanks. They couldn't keep things straight very well.
  15. #9 Cornell over #3 Missouri 20-16 149: #28 Fernandez decision #25 Gioffre 4-0 157: #12 Shapiro major decision #5 Mauller 14-4 (first bonus loss of Mauller's career!) 197: #8 Cardenas decision #3 Elam 4-0
  16. My apologies. All in good fun.
  17. You were expecting some wrestlers to avoid other wrestlers? Isn't that what ducking is about?
  18. So much for that gas tank issue, huh? (yes, I just got off my bike and reading this thread now)
  19. It's a slow burn.
  20. This aged well.
  21. Yeah, the Brown *assistant* coach walked onto the mat. No bueno.
  22. Damned Cornell wrestling alums! (FWIW, Cornell beat Harvard 37-6, losing a regular decision and a major decision. Yes, Harvard was also penalized a point for unsportsmanlike conduct (someone took a swing at a Cornell wrestler for that one))
  23. Not a score you often see.
  24. Yeah, I was riding my bike for the whole match, thinking I'd go blind if they didn't fix it. As I said, high school A/V clubs do better.
  25. For those Mizzou fans who will be watching the Cornell match tomorrow on ESPN+, I apologize in advance for the terrible announcer and the high school level production "values."
